At that time the Roman emperor, Augustus, decreed that a census
should be taken throughout the Roman Empire.
2 (This was the first census taken when Quirinius was governor of Syria.)
3 All returned to their own ancestral towns to register for this census.
4 And because Joseph was a descendant of King David, he had to go
to Bethlehem in Judea, David’s ancient home. He traveled there
from the village of Nazareth in Galilee.
5 He took with him Mary, his fiancée, who was now obviously pregnant.
6 And while they were there, the time came for her baby to be born.
7 She gave birth to her first child, a son. She wrapped him snugly in
strips of cloth and laid him in a manger, because there was
no lodging available for them.

OBSERVATION
Our savior was born.
APPLICATION
God in the flesh was born by the name of Jesus, so that he might die for our sins. It is our choice if we accept this gift or not.
PRAYER
Lord, thank you for the gift of your son. He was born to spread your word and die for our sins, so that we might go to heaven to be with you. I know that on my own I cannot have any hope to be in heaven with you when I die. I thank you for sending your son so that a sinner like me can be saved. Please help me to remember that this is the basis of faith, help me to focus on this point and not get so carried away with the law. I cannot ever hope to uphold the law and that is why your sacrifice was required. Please keep me, plant me in solid ground, I believe Jesus is the son of God and I want to go to heaven when I die. Grant me reassurance of this fact because daily I wonder. Please forgive my sins, keep me cognizant of the sins I commit and help deliver me from the temptation to sin. In Jesus' name I pray, amen.0 -
Thank you Lord Jesus! Amen0

First I read this in my prefred study version... then I had to go read in in King James- because that is how I memorized.
Some of my observations:
1. God used a worldly leader to fulfill His prophecy that the Messiah would be born in Bethleham.
Micah 5:2
New International Version (NIV)
2 “But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah,
though you are small among the clans[a] of Judah,
out of you will come for me
one who will be ruler over Israel,
whose origins are from of old,
from ancient times.”
Caeser Agustus issued the ddecree that got Mary and Joseph into Bethleham at the time of the birth.
2. All th reminders of the lineage. It is very important as it fulfilled so many promises of not only a savior, but a savior from the seed of Abraham.
Application:
remember that God sometimes takes hundreds of years to fulfil His promises. His timing is not our timing.0 -
thank you very good lesson..0

Observation: Joseph and Mary were on the way to Bethelhem because Caesar Auigustus made a decree that all the world should be taxed and return each to their own town. At the time Joseph and Mary were in Gailee in the town of Nazareth, but as you recall the prophecy given about the promised Messiah was that he would be born in Bethelehem. Mary gave birth to the promised Messiah when she was in Bethelhem
Application: When God gives us specfic instructions he will make sure we are at the right place and there at the right time. We don't need to take matters into our own hands
Prayer: I ask your forgiveness for the times when you gave me a specific promise and I messed it up by taking matters in my own hands. I realize I was not walking by faith or out of obedience to you. just as the song says God is never late he is always right on time. Help me to understand that and to walk by faith and not by sight.0 -
SCRIPTURE: LUKE 2: 1-7
FOCUS: v7 "She gave birth to her first child, a son. She wrapped him snugly in strips of cloth and laid him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the village inn."
OBSERVATION
God in His omnipotency worked it out for the census to take place which made Joseph and Mary take the trip to pay taxes. All along the prophecy of Jesus being born and where was being fulfilled. Not only was that prophecy fulfilled but also the prophecy of the bloodline Jesus would come from was fulfilled. It was a good thing that both Joseph and Mary was so obedient; they would have missed their blessing had they were disobedient.
APPLICATION
Be obedient to God and move only when He tells you to. I will wait on Him to direct my paths for then I'll know I am definitely walking in the will of God.
PRAYER
Heavenly Father thank you for your Son Jesus Christ. Give me strength to endure to the end. Help me to be obedient.0
