Hey! I'm Meagan
I'm totally new to all this group stuff, but I figured I'd try it out and talk to people that have the same stuff going on as me!:)
So I'm 19 years old and was diagnosed with SLE when I was a soph in high school. It was horrible at first, I was an athlete and was playing volleyball at the time, so it was a hard time. It was a long process bc it took forever for the doc to figure out what was going on with me. I started getting afraid bc I lost my dad 6 years ago to an unknown disease and he sort of had some of the same symptoms but way worse. After a billion test, they figured it out and I started my prednisone and plaquenil and felt normal again. I started gaining several pounds bc I was not active and was reached 198 lbs!:0 I then started going to my doc and lost 15 lbs. That's nothing now since I've gained a TON of weight since I started college. I currently weigh 240 and trying to get back to working out and loosing the weight. I would love to lose 100 lbs. I have been off of my medications for almost a year now bc my doctor got pregnant and was out a while and then she moved hospitals...that was great lol. My mom is always on my case about going to get it refilled and I get very annoyed. I know she's concerned but I have felt completely normal as if there was nothing wrong. I'm wondering how much longer I will be in remission before I have to start those stupid meds again. but anyways I've done this calorie counting thing before and it really helped! So now I'm trying to get motivated again and lose this dang fat! haha
sorry for the long story!:)

Hey Meagan I was diagnosed with SLE Lupus in 2008. I've always been heavy but steroids took it to a whole new level. Currently 234 started MFP at 266. Trying to get down to 180. I'll add you as a friend.. We can motivate each other. Not too many people know or understand Lupus unless you have it yourself or know someone that does. Even then its difficult for people to understand. Have Faith and Hope that yours will stay in remission. My is doing pretty good after having 2 years of chemo which is great. Keep fighting and never give up.

Hey all! I too am new to this MFP website. I have had Lupus since 2005. I am on Prednisone and Plaquenil and Methotrexate (yuck) I'm really trying to get off that drug. I've been doing good with my Lupus, I just have to make sure I don't overdo it, I like to try and do it all and not ask for any help.I am currently at 217 and am sick and tired of being stuck at this weight. I have been trying for several months to lose, and I end up losing 3 gaining 2. Losing 5 gaining 6. So I feel like I'm not getting anywhere. I'm hoping this site, along with my fitbit will help me succeed in losing for good, I'm not looking to be model thin, I just want to feel comfortable in my own body, and right now I don't. Looking forward to figuring out how this site works and getting to know some new fellow losers.

Welcome to all of you. I hope you are able to get the advice and support you need from this group. Lupus is a hard road to travel, but having people around that know what you're going through helps. Lots of luck in your weight loss journeys!

I'm not really new but I don't think I've posted on here. I was diagnosed with Lupus in May of 2012 after 15 years of symptoms (and I'm only 29!). I was relieved to finally have some idea of what I was up against. My weight has always been a problem. I was full grown at 13 (38DDD and 36 inch hips, teeny waist) and when I was 15 I was mistakenly diagnosed as bipolar and the doctor put me on nine different medications for that!! So boom! I gained 40 or 60 lbs in six weeks. I think it's 40. Anyway, that pushed me to 190. Before I knew it, I was 290 and so here I am. It's still not coming off but that's cuz my eating is crap, which is fine. Right now I'm just working on some accountability for myself. Things will have to change soon though because the lupus is starting to affect my liver. Feel free to add me as a friend!0

Hello Everyone! Nice to find a group that can truly understand those "struggle" days! I was diagnosed with Sjogren's and SLE in, geez, 2008...but my journey to "get diagnosed" predates that by probably 8 years. I was on disability for a year when I was first diagnosed and have progressively moved to what I call "medication managed" (not quite remission) in the past two years. I've been able to push through the pain and flares to drop over 50lbs and am stunned how much weight loss and living a healthy lifestyle has on my disease and symptoms. Just recently started to try to ween down meds, but not going quite as planned. Nice to have support through this journey, stay motivated, and hopefully hit my weight/health/fitness goals!!0

Wow!! Way to go on the weight loss. I was doing pretty good myself until last April, when I had a MAJOR flare (the kind where you don't leave the couch for two months) and then I was diagnosed and since then I've been moving all over the country. Finally settled down though (after gaining back all of my lost weight *sigh*) so now I can resume my weight loss journey (hopefully, since my doctor has me on hold while she tests my lungs *eye-rolling). I swear, I'm too young to feel this old.0
