Weight Gain Advised Around 16 Weeks

Has anyone been chewed out by their OB for losing a pound around 16 Weeks? Yesterday, at 15w5d and 121 lbs. (an approx. .2-lb. gain since early February), I was assigned to gain 2-4 lbs. within the next 4 wks. In my opinion, my appetite now into the 2nd trimester has been fair compared to the 1st trimester, my water intake around 1 gal./day, I eat throughout the day, and it is rare I go to bed or wake hungry. My eating habits during the week are generally healthy (refer to my food diary), while I slide significantly on the weekends -- fast food, Chinese takeout, etc. Given this morning I am up .6 lbs. overnight after hydrating myself, and considering I was 4 lbs. heavier just days ago (my weight fluctuates 2-5 lbs. throughout the week), I feel the chewing out was a little uncalled for; but perhaps I'm wrong. Similar experiences to share?

I am 14w2d and I am down 3 lbs now. But, I started overweight. My doc has no concerns over my weight loss. I don't understand being chewed out for your weight loss. That doesn't seem right. It isn't much and you are only 16w. Many people lose due to m/s. Sorry I can't help. My doctor has never mentioned my weight loss or weight gain during pregnancy. If you are eating healthy and taking your vitamins and baby is growing and doing well I would think all is fine. Baby usually is always fine. Baby just takes everything from you, so maybe you are hurting yourself. But, it sounds like you are doing everything well.0

I was under the impression that you are supposed to gain 1 pound a week or so during your 2nd trimester and to up your calories 200 or so. I'm 183lbs with just weight fluctuations from day to day but I have not gained at eating a 100 calories under maintenance, according to MFP, which is about 1850. I do exercise as well. I realize you are at a much lower weight then I so if i ate just over 1000 calories to 1500 that you are I'd be dropping weight each week but we are all different and that includes a cheat meal on the weekends..
I got this from babycenter.com
If your pre-pregnancy weight was in the healthy range for your height (a BMI of 18.5 to 24.9), you should gain between 25 and 35 pounds, gaining 1 to 5 pounds in the first trimester and about 1 pound per week for the rest of your pregnancy for the optimal growth of your baby.

I am 15 weeks and up three pounds, which is about what they expect, so nothing has been said to me. I did not experience any real morning sickness, so I was easily able to eat my maintenence calories (2150) during the first trimester. I gained that 3 right away, too. I imagine it is bloat, but this is my second and the belly is really poking out now!
Maybe double check your numbers on the calculator below? I am not sure of your activity level, but this calculator seems to be pretty spot on for pregnancy intake per my research. Since it includes activity it would mean not eating back workout calories, which could change the way you log. For the second tri I am eating close to 2300 per day with a low to normal gain thus far. I eat the same every day regardless of if I work out that day or not. I am working out quite a bit though, so my calories may be higher than what yours would need to be.

l wouldn't be concerned. I'm only up 9 pounds at 28 weeks and baby is measuring spot on. As long as you aren't starving yourself you'll start putting on what you need to eventually. There's no need to eat more just for the sake of it. Here in the UK, you don't get weighed at all, so I don;t think weight gain/loss is as crucial as most people think. Keep doing what works for you and you'll put on what you need to.0
