One month to go

are you ready?

folks, with a month to go, i want to stress that the cardio should be the most important part of your training.
there is no dead lifting during this race. there is a long trail.
there is no squating during the race. there are hills.
while yes, lifting can help you running, the thing that helps your running the most is running. and i can not stress the importance of doing hills and going out and doing some trail runs.
as a team, we will be helping people up and over any difficult obstacles. but there is only one obstacle that we can't help you out with: the run.
get out there and start running.
see you at the finish line.

I hear you! I have been out trail running each weekend. Found a great place in NJ... in Hillsborough http://www.somersetcountyparks.org/parksfacilities/sourland/sourlandmtpreserve.html
It is rated a medium difficulty hike but was quite the trail run for me at least! Parts of the trail were very rocky so it was a slow but intense run. There is even a clear cut section along where a pipeline is buried that is running straight up the side of the mountain like a ski slope. I plan on running this trail again this Saturday morning... with at least two times up that clear cut.0 -
Saw this post coming a mile away!
HAPPY ONE MONTH TIL SPARTAN, EVERYONE!!!!
I gotcha, Danny. I've been working really hard on running but I made the mistake of just working on running on the treadmill with no incline since I'm such a beginner. I added in 1% incline yesterday (which is supposed to most closely mimic running outdoors) and it was a TOTAL STRUGGLEFEST!
So if you're a n00b like me and you've been just running on the treadmill with no incline, I'd suggest changing that!
This month: ALL THE TRAIL RUNNING, ALL THE HILL TRAINING, & ALL THE INCLINE!!!
There's a monster hill by my house that has my name on it. And I don't care if I look like a nutso running up and down it for hours, because I'm gunna be a champ!
Ok, enough f*cking around. I need to get to the gym.0 -
Great gut check, Boss.
See you at the finish line.0 -
That's for sharing that bit of info...I gotta get on that. I have also only been dreadmill running.
As far as the obstacles go, I see many burpees in my future!0
