From my own experience, find something you enjoy doing. I get bored very quickly of workout DVDs and prefer doing classes of some sort. If you have the cash, think about a local gym, or check the local press for exercise classes.0

try team sports, you make friends, have a laugh and you're never bored= weight loss, happiness and soooo much more
notts has loads of sports teams out there and they all welcome newbies along.
i play rugby, occassionally netball and have even looked at rounders.
there back to netball sessions being held over the country aimed at women who haven't played since school or ever before
notts has rugby teams; ashfield has just started up, mellish, notts.......
or just get on a bike n pedal around the country parks, sherwood pines etc it'll make you sweat and more importantly, smile.0 -
^^^ what Emblu says!
I'm in Notts, but I think we probably have different workout goals. There are cheap gyms you can join in town that all run classes and you might like some of them - Zumba, spinning, etc. If you have friends who play badminton or tennis or squash give that a go at one of the sports centres.
You need a goal to be able to stick at something, otherwise you will flake out. If you like running, improve your time; if you want to lose weight, set a (realistic) target over a certain time.
Whatever it is, you need to enjoy it/feel satisfied afterwards. Personally, I've never finished a workout and regretted doing it!0 -
Have you tried Zumba? It's really good fun, I got addicted a few months ago now and love going! I burn between 500&750 cals in an hour xx0

thanks guys but heres my obstacles, I don't live in Nottingham, I live in Newark. All classes are evening or just before I pick little one up. So classes are out of the window. I needed something from 2-3 or 2 and between 5 struggled to find anything.
Quite like the idea of a bike...0 -

I've been using one of the Run Keeper programmes (off their website). Obviously it's not as good as a buddy but if you commit to it, it does get you out on the road and mixes things up so you don't get bored. Plus it's flexible and you can do them anywhere (AND its free!)0

I go to bootcamp and I love it. Lots of banter and a little bit of competitiveness all for a laugh. Only thing is its evenings but I guess it depends on what you have locally up there.0

get a bike n get a seat fitted for your sprog. me n my daughter went everywhere when she was little on the bike, i invested in a trailer for her after a while.....so worth the money n think of the extra burn towing an ever growing child with you. mine is now 12 so she has to ride her own bike now lol0
