My husband and I are relatively new to the area and are trying to take our kayaks out soon. Any good spots we definitely shouldn't miss?

I think there are times I'd like to rent a kayak downtown but I won't go alone. I'm not terribly experienced but I've been out on a kayak twice and have really enjoyed it when the water was nice and calm.

Downtown/North Shore!! It's really fun, and you get an amazing view of the city. It looks like you don't need to rent, but you still may find this link useful: http://www.kayakpittsburgh.org/locations/downtown/

I think the trip to Washington's Landing and back is a great distance for me. The waters can be a little rough if there is a lot of boat traffic, but I've never had any problems. I don't think I'd go alone either, just in case something were to happen, but I've never felt unsafe.

Millvale may also be a good place for you (check out Pamela's for breakfast in Millvale before you go! YUM!): http://kayakpittsburgh.org.s89430.gridserver.com/?page_id=32

I saw ad is the paper today for a activity called Happy Hour Paddle. It will be held on May 10th. You can find more information about it at www.ventureoutdoors.org. It is listed under Upcoming Events on the left side of the site.

I would love to rent a kayak sometimes. I have only been in a kayak once at the Outer Banks. I enjoyed it. The north shore is a great place to do it.
