Hey everyone!!

i'm new to the group and working my way to be a distance runner!! I'm running my first half next weekend and would love some more runner friends for motivation, training tips and more explaining about "fuel" during races - before and after - that kind of thing!

Welcome! I did my first half in April and am working on my first full in October!

This is a great group with lots of active posters, you should get lots of tips :-)

Have a great half! My favorite distance I think. Just remember that it should feel easy the first 6 miles or so. Easy to get sucked in at the beginning and go to fast as you feel good.

Request sent :) I'm a big fan of negative splits - simplified, start at a deliberately slow pace the first 6.5mi, and pick it up the last half, once all of the "kinks" are worked out. Nothing feels better than a virtually effortless, quick pace.

    Welcome to the group!
Fuel before, during, and after a race can be tricky especially what works for one person will cause another to gag. The best thing you can do is experiment with different options during your training runs and then use the combination that works on race day.
    Good luck on your half!

Hey! I'm a new runner, and I'm training for my first marathon in October. I'm running the race with a huge team of experienced and new runners, but it's helps to have some daily support from MFP friends :) Good luck on your half!!!
