Results for the First section of the Grand Tour Challenge (Giro d'Italia) are as Follows:
first of all the Maglia Rosa overall competition...
- Rider #321 - Dahamac nosed ahead in the last weekend with 2 Double Centurys Back to back for a total distance of 1,436.00km
![MagliaRosa.png](http://www.mb-software.co.uk/MFP/GrandTours/Giro/MagliaRosa.png)
- Rider #301 - FatDadSlim and another incredible 4 digit distance of 1,286.82km (and goodness only knows how many mountains - but I'll come to that later!)
- Rider #308 - Me... 969.73km's due to a cramp-curtailed ride on the final Sunday otherwise I would have been in the 1,000+ club.
To put things in perspective, we set out to ride 3,405km beween a 9 person team - the PODIUM have managed 3692.55 between 3 people.
The competition for the Maglia Rossa wasn't quite as closely disputed as the actual Giro, it certainly didn't change hands in the final days ride...
- Rider #303 - Cloggsy71 with only 1 ride out of 9 dipping below an average of 30+kph, he turned in an overall average of 34.00kph
![MagliaRossa.png](http://www.mb-software.co.uk/MFP/GrandTours/Giro/MagliaRossa.png)
- Rider #325 - fishbrain976 - again every ride being over 30kph and coming out at an average of 31.96kph
- Rider #304 - cyclenut74 with an average of 28.08kph, and just shading out #313 Christophenes by a tiny margin (28.06kph)
And Finally, the Maglia Azurra Climbers competition...
- Rider #301 - FatDadSlim, the man who commuted back and forth over a mountain range... 21,550m of ascent (that's 16.75m of ascent for every Km ridden in the challenge...) Speaking as someone who gets dropped when riding over a railway bridge, I find it frankly amazing!
![MagliaAzzura.png](http://www.mb-software.co.uk/MFP/GrandTours/Giro/MagliaAzzura.png)
- Rider #321 - Dahamac - 11,867m of ascent (or 8.26m fo every Km ridden)
- Rider #311 - narak_lol - 11,802m if ascent (for an even hillier 17.01m per Km ridden)
Hopefully, the final results are now showing in the spreadsheet at

And As always well done to everyone who got out there and did a ride and joined in the fun...

I'm sure i speak for everyone who got involved in the spirit of the challenge when i say we would like to express our extreme gratitude to TBY for his superb organisation skills as per usual.
Well done to Dahamac who kept me on my toes right up to the end, two more commutes would have seen me right but wind put a stop to that "C'est la vie" Chapeau.
and Kudos to the speed merchant Cloggsy, 34KMH AVERAGE, WOW!0 -
first. big thanks to TheBigYin for the very successful challenge and organizing this. Do really appreaiate TBY's effort with the entire arrangement, the picture art design, the spreadsheet and also taking all his time to check through our data in Strava. thanks bro.
Big congratulation to all the Jersey winners, huge miles, lighting speed and killer climbs. You guys did great!
Hope to participate another one of this challenge soon. Tour de France is coming0 -
Amen to the above...0

I was never in the running, but loved the challenge. It made me ride more and harder when I rode. Thanks TBY & everybody else for the push and encouragement along the way. Maybe next year I'll finish as strong as I started.0

FDS proved to be a tough, tough contender. I was fortunate that the double 200K brevets fell into the Giro Challenge window and even then it was tough. Amazing riding FDS, especially over that mountain range as a commute route!
Cloggsy, slow down and smell the roses are at least change the oil in that motor every now and then ;-)
TBY - awesome effort at keeping up with all the data and cheering us all on toward greater mileages.
Huge thanks go out to:
my Coach - Jesus, He rides with me on every trip.
My LBS (Blue Moon Bicycles in Griffin, GA)
My Sponsor - Mom
My Cheering Squad - Dad
And most especially my Soigneuse - my lovely wife
Great effort by all who took up the mantle for the Challenge - Ride, Ride Lots and be sure to Love the Work! Pedal-Pedal0 -
Awesome effort everyone!
Many thanks to TBY; another challenge professionally ran, even with the hardships you faced before and during the challenge - You never missed a beat!
Some amazing KM's covered during this ride - Well done Dahamac; amazing distance & FDS for not only his amazing climbing skills but also his amazing levels of endurance!
Chapeau TBY, chapeau all!0 -
Well Done All especially team 2! everyone's coming well into form now for the summer if it ever arrives :yawn:0

Okay, that's the Giro over for another year, time to prize the chewing gum off the back of the thread and allow it to drift into oblivion...
It's safe to resume your normal profile pictures now... jersey winners excepted of course... (rule #75)
thread un-stickied0 -
In case you're wondering folks - this is the 2013 version - I indulged in a little "thread necromancy" just to get at one or two of the words and pictures, but this is definitely last years, and hence is locked off for posting...0
