Can you run 5k after finishing the 5k app?

Just curious to see if the app really gets people to the point where they can run 5k in one go. Currently I'm at week 7 and there's still so many breaks in between that I'm wondering if 5k will be possible come end next week. For those people that finished already, were you able to run the 5k after? And if so, how long did it take you? (I'm slow, so it might be that it would take me 40 minutes of running to do a 5k rather than 30 that would break me up).

It got me there, but I don't remember how long it took me.

Remember that everyone is different, and that you still have a few workouts to go before the 5K at the end.

Oh boy... I hope so! I kind signed up for right after it finishes...
  • In my experience, yes. I finished the 5k app last Thursday and ran for the full 5k on the last session. Took me about 45-50mins, including the warm up walk. I've since completed a 5k race, and 2 parkruns (free, times 5k runs in a local park) and have ran the full distance in all of them. None of them have been easy (hey, if it was easy it wouldn't be worth doing!) but it's slowly getting easier.

Whilst doing the app though, I did make a point of only running through all the freeform run periods, and I think this is what helped me the most. A friend who has used the freeform runs as run/walk drills struggled to complete the full 5k in the last session, however by repeating the last couple of weeks she has now managed the full distance.

Like bad hair bear, I also ran through all the freeforms (and often through the stretching section), so I feel well prepared for the final run, which I'm doing today!

    You guys are inspiring!
I'm on week 6 and don't feel like I'll be able to do the whole 5k in 2 weeks at all.
It's great to hear the end result is good! :)
