Logging break after delivery?

Are you guys going to take a break from logging for the first few weeks after delivery? I think I will take at least 2 weeks off, but I don't want to get too far out of the habit. Just curious what others are planning to do.

I'll probably do 2 weeks off too. If I remember rightly from last time I wasn't very hungry after I delivered last time. I think the breastfeeding appetite kicked in around week 2 so that's probably a good time for me to start. The first few weeks will be just eating whatever I can whip up in a hurry.0

That sounds about right. I have logged every day but one in the past year (yesterday actually, due to several hours of being ill and not knowing how to log food I'm not keeping down, lol!) but the first couple weeks I remember being so tired, I can't really imagine trying to fit logging in too. I am sure it's possible I might change my mind and feel up to it but I sincerely doubt it will be in my head at all! I might even break my login streak when I have the baby0

My baby made an appearance just over a week ago (3 weeks early) and I've stopped logging for now. Figure I need to focus more on sleeping and making sure he's eating at the moment, but like Rosy003 said don't want to get out of the habit so will probably start up again 2 weeks postpartum. Good luck to those still waiting for their little ones to make an appearance!!0

I plan on taking a week or so off, all depends on how we are doing. I don't want to get out of the habit but also want to spend time and energy where it should be with a newborn
RBitton- congrats on the babes! Do you know why you had your baby early?0 -
I will most likely take at least a week off after I deliver, I will have family here for at least that long, maybe even a bit longer, and I know my mom will be cooking up a storm to freeze so I will have it after she leaves. I'm sure it will be all my favorites, and it won't be "healthy" stuff lol. I will just see how I feel, and how it goes taking care of all three kids when everyone leaves and my hubby is back at work. The last 2 times, I didn't have much of an appetite for a little while anyway, I mostly had small snack-type meals for at least the first couple days I was home0

I plan to continue to log everything as best I can with no break. I normally would consider a break, but I did not have much of an appetitie for the week or so after my daughter was born and looking back I am sure I did not eat enough or consume the right things. For me, continuing to log may help me to ensure I am eating enough and getting proper nutrients until the nursing hunger kicks in. Once that kicks in I will probably have a hard time staying under 5k per day!
I also suffered from a wicked case of PPD after my daughter and for me personally logging may be one thing in my arsenal to help alleviate any of those symptoms I had last time. My mental status appears to suffer when I am not eating properly, so that will be one thing I can "control" after the babe is here. We also plan to do freezer meals and my husband is awesome at helping me meal plan. I do not think it will feel like I am doing anything extra, especially since I have been logging all of my food for over a year. It has just become something I do, like brushing my teeth.
edited to add that I do not plan to monitor calories per say, but more the nutrient and macro side of things. I will only be watching calories to make sure I do not undereat, but I will not deny myself food if hungry. I do not think immediately post partum is the time to cut.0 -
I hadn't thought about that. I'll probably take off logging for as long as I don't feel like getting on the computer. If I'm getting online, no reason not to jump on MFP and log my food. But, after having a c-section with my youngest, I did nothing but lie in bed for two weeks. (Yay for relatives spending two weeks at my house and taking care of everything!)
Hopefully I won't have another c-section, so I'll only be off for a few days.0 -
Erinthebodo - Not sure why although the doc didn't seem too concerned. My water broke on it's own so there was really no stopping it at that point. I think exercising during pregnancy paid off though because he is one strong little guy!
Are people planning on using maintenance plus breastfeeding calories to log? I'm trying to figure out how many calories I should be eating a day while pregnant. Also, once you start exercising again, try to eat back exercise calories? I'm a little confused as to how to make sure I eat enough but lose the 10lbs that haven't yet come off on their own (I know, I know, it will probably happen on it's own - it's only been a week)0 -
I plan to keep logging as best I can. Even if I don't log everything. I want to stick with it and not get into the habit of saying, oh, I don't need to do it today. I just don't want to get back to old habits and then have to get back into the groove again. It was hard enough the first time!!0

All I ever do is quick calorie log, I will continue to do it most likely it only takes a second on my phone. We are starting to get meals and shakes prepped, so I will also try to pre log when I have time.0

My son is two weeks old today, and I started back logging yesterday. I am eating 1900 calories, which is 1400 net because we are EBFing. I gained way too much (again), so I've got my work cut out for me. I lost 21lbs right off the bat, but the scale hasn't moved since Sunday, so I think the rest is on me now to lose. I get cleared for exercise (presumably) July 2nd, so I will be doing the Roadmap (TDEE -20%) assuming it allows me to eat at least 1800 calories, since that is supposedly the minimum needed to maintain your BFing supply.0
