Staying on track on nights out

Hi everyone, does anyone have any tips for staying motivated when out socialising and drinking? I tend to lose my will-power after the second drink and get ridiculous hunger during and at the end of the night.

I have the same problem. I think the best thing to do is order low-sugar drinks. I know that I get a lot sicker from drinks that have high sugar content. Try whiskey sours?0

If I know I will be going out that night, I usually workout earlier in the day and burn a ton of calories so that I can enjoy a few drinks later! I also try to eat plenty of fruits and veggies for healthy carbs during the day since alcohol basically turns into carbs in your system. This is just what I do, so just a suggestion! I also take a multivitamin right when I get home with a big glass of water (helps hangovers!)0

I know how it is.... I usually overindulge. What i've started to do is always eat a healthy meal before I go out... always have water with my drink. If I do get hungry at night, I reach for almonds or veggies.0

Thanks for posting this. I run into the same issue every time I go out. I try to drink (gasp!) light beers--even though it usually results in me getting made fun of by my friends.0

I very much enjoy going out, getting drinks with friends and having a good time. If I am in a spot where I absolutely need to stick to my diet as closely as possible, I get vodka-diet cokes and make sure that I eat a solid, healthy meal before going out. I plan on having a healthy snack when I get home, too, so that when I am out I know that I will get home and get something to eat. I usually will make myself two eggs and allow myself a piece of whole-wheat bread. It isn't more than 250 calories and, for me, relatively guilt free.
Honestly, though, if I know that I am going out with the girls for dinner and martinis on a Friday, I make sure to stick to my diet on Thursday and Friday during the day, as well as the following day on Saturday, and work out maybe 15 minutes more for each of the work outs. Ultimately, life is short, and so I let myself have a night every week or so where I have what I want. And I find that if I know that I can have what I want, I don't have the urge to over eat...I just have what I want and do not feel bad about it. I also make myself feel better by considering it a bit of a 'shock' to my metabolism, mixes things up a bit
I should add too that I gained all of my excess weight in the last year...I had a medical complication and needed to start a medicine that is notorious for weight gain. That being said, the strategies that I listed above worked well for me when I was thin and at a healthy weight.0 -
If I know I am going out, I will be sure to workout earlier that day and try to eat healthy filling foods. I will also stick to vodka with zero calorie mixers ( diet soda, club soda) or wine. I try to avoid more than one beer, but I prefer craft beers which are usually more calories. I think that alternating water and alcohol is my best weapon. Water fills you up and helps me from getting really drunk.
As far as snacks, I make popcorn because I always want salty carbs.0 -
