    I'd leave it as it is: HALF MARATHON! Who cares if non-runners won't understand! If you call it a 21K people will get even more confused IMO...

    Have you all never been asked what length marathon you ran or are running?

    You know, a 5k marathon, a 10k marathon and so on.

    I get this a lot. I run mostly half marathons. FIL likes to ask about my upcoming races and would always ask the distance even though I had already called it a half marathon. He has learned - now he asks "is this half marathon also 13 miles?"
