T-Slim Insulin pump anyone?

I'm trying to get a pump again. I had one for 8 months that was a loaner while I was pregnant with my oldest son 9 years ago and had great success on it, however my insurance (Medicaid) had decided that it wasn't medically necessary to allow me one permanently. Well I am trying again because I desperately need one due to my gastroparesis and absorption issues. I went to pump class the other day at the Diabetic Center at the Medical Center and they showed us the new models they have out. The one I had before was a Paradigm. I decided on trying to get the T-Slim. I have retenopathy, macular nonprofusion, and macular edema and there are times that my vision gets very poor and need something with contrasting colors and that seemed to be the best one. I have a prodigy meter so that i can hear my readings rather than try looking at it with the grey and black. Anyway, my questions are these:

What do you like most about your T-Slim?
What do you dislike most about your T-Slim?
Is it user friendly and how often do you have problems with it being touch screen and accidentally pressing buttons while in your pocket or case?
Have you encountered any complications with the T-Slim?

TIA for any information you can give me!

Jenn

I have been using my t:slim since September 2012.

What I like most is the bright screen colors - I have some vision issues, and it can be hard to see other pump screens, especially in sunlight. I don't have that issue with the t:slim.

What I like least is the way it doesn't reverse correct for blood sugars above 70. (For example, with my old Ping, if my BG was 80 and I was going to eat 20g of carbs, it would tell me to take 1.5 units of insulin instead of the normal full 2 that I would need....to bring be back, in theory, to my goal of 100. The t:slim doesn't subtract any insulin from the recommended dosage if you are under your BG goal.....unless you are under 70. If you want to do this you have to calculate it yourself and override what the pump suggests.)

I find it very user friendly and extremely intuitive.

Being touch screen is not an issue. There are features built in so that it's pretty much impossible to accidentally give a bolus. (If you touch the screen three times in random places instead of selecting specific things, it locks/shuts down the screen, because the pump assumes you didn't mean to do that.)

Oh by the way, I don't know what insulin you use, but using Apidra in the t:slim is NOT approved and not recommended. The way that insulin is moved through the cartridge of the t:slim is different than in other pumps......actually the whole makeup of the cartridge is different. I have heard many cases of people having no success with Apidra in this pump ....... it gets clogged up and causes occlusions after just a day or two.

Using Humalog or Novolog is what's recommended with this pump!

The colors are what drew me to wanting it with my vision issues to. Right now I take 14 u on Levemire in the morning and at bedtime. Then I take 1:8g at breakfast (when I'm able to eat breakfast, I'm on that has a very har time eating within 3 hours of waking up) and at dinner, and 1:14 g at lunch. So the insulin thing won't be a problem. Thanks for your input on it!
