Strava lesson

I can't seem to get Strava to work. The first time I used it, it had me riding to Africa and back - 1455 miles RT. The next time, it started me somewhere other than my start point, thereby adding another 4 miles to the trip. I wound up discarding that trip because I could seem to get rid of these stats thing and I couldn't edit the starting point. I'm still not sure how to save my ride. Don't you start recording and then ride and when done, save? Why does it make me then enter the miles and speed mannually before it will save? I did save one ride and I faked the speed/miles because I didn't know. When it saved, the whole route with the 11.5 miles showing was gone. Now all I have are these fake stats. So far, I hate Strava - it's not user friendly and it's GPS seems to be out in left field. Any words of advice?

I gave up with Strava on my old phone as the GPS lock took way too long and gave me all sorts of stupid trips.
My iPhone5 locks onto GPS sats almost instantly, but I switched to Endomondo and have not looked back....0 -
What phone do you use? I struggled for once over the weekend. It doesn't normally happen for me and I use it all the time.
I normally switch on the GPS first, wait for that to locate and then start recording. I put my phone as close to the outer layers as possible (if it's raining, it is in my jersey under the rain jacket) and it manages to retain a signal and record.0 -
Have you set up your account correctly on the internet first?? It seems odd that the GPS is going haywire like that..0

I use Cyclemeter on my iPhone, then export the .tcx file and upload it to Strava.0

I have a GalaxyS with T-Mobile. My GPS is pretty good, normally. I actually got it to work this morning and I made sure my GPS was on before I opened the program so that may have helped.

I will look at the Endomondo and at Cyclemeter. Since I don't have an iPhone, I may be limited to Android programs. I've also heard that MapmyRide does a better job with GPS too. I've been using CardioTrainer which is okay but I am looking for that next level of mild competition/pushing.0 -
Looks good! I use a Galaxy S2/S3 with T-Mobile also. It doesn't often fail me!
Touches Wood. Not in *that* sense.0 -
I was using Strava on an older Android phone and kept having issues with GPS so I switched to Endomondo and for some reason that seemed to work (I think the Strava app was too much for my little old phone to deal with). On my S3 (Verizon  ) haven't had any real issues other than some GPS drift on a segment or two, nothing crazy like riding to Africa or whatnot.0

I use an iphone4S with Wahoo fitness app which uploads to Strava with a single click. I have tried other apps, and have found this one the best option.0

I use Wahoo Fitness and Endomondo on an iPhone 4s at the same time when I ride. I've got the various Wahoo sensors for my bike (HRM, Blue SC, and RFLKT) which work best with the Wahoo Fitness app. I just started using Strava b/c I can upload the stats in the Wahoo Fitness app and it seems to be the big app that most cyclists use these days.
I use Endomondo because it's a great all around fitness app, automagically updates MFP, and works like a champ, but it doesn't tie into the various sensors I have on the bike. I've got a few buddies on Endo as well and we use it to track each others workouts.0 -
I use runtastic road bike pro. It automatically syncs with MFP. Has been flawless with the gps tracking. Has some nice features with the ability to do much more than I desire. Simple and effective. I found Endomondo overstated my calorie burn compared to other programs.0
