I am about four months in and 40 some pounds down...

Just when I thought it was clear sailing I find there are new challenges ... I am struggling with placing vanity and pride before health and fittness.. Anger another problem as I have let go of self medicating with food..

The journey for me began on Ash Wednesday when God said it's time and gave me the strengh to begin... My hope for this post is to find some freinds too say a novena with... I feel this will help redirict my engery back into the joyful offering that I started with..

Open as to length of time and to whom we decide to help us intercede....

I heard a story about St. Theresa of Avila. I don't remember it exactly, but it went something like this: She would be woken up from sleep by the devil and just laugh, "Oh, it's just you, Satan," and roll over and go back to sleep. I try to remember that story whenever I feel temptations. Next time you pass the mirror and start to admire your new shape, try saying that! I think we're all tempted this way at times, at least I know that I am.

So, in short, I'm in! Which novena and when do you want to start?

LOL, love it ! and will definitly use it with the temptations...

My go to's are Our Lady of Loch or Padre Pio... Was thinking possible St Joseph or St Margaret of Cortona who is amongst other things the patron St of obesity...

But as I said open to suggestions...

    Thoughts?

I am so pleased that you all are interested in as Grassette so aptly put it becoming a spirtual fittness group...

How does a 9 day novena to St Margaret of Cortona Monday the 24 th sound? Gives us all a few days to prepare and see if anyone else reads the post and wants to participate...

Well, I have to admit that I've never heard of St. Margaret of Cortona and had no idea their was a patron saint of weight loss! Our faith is awesome; there's always more to learn and love.

Here's a link I found. It gives her story, in brief, and has a link at the bottom to the Novena (In case I'm not the only one who's just now learning about her.)

Great idea. June 24 is the feast day of St John the Baptist too---and a major holiday in Quebec where I live! A good day to start a novena.
