Hello Runner 5's!
So I am starting week 8 this week, AHHH! I feel like I have improved ALOT, and am still super proud of myself for just being able to run a mile, but I am skeptical if I will be able to run 3 by then end of this week. So far the most I have done without taking a single walking break was 1.5 miles.
I have been following it pretty consistantly, with the exeption for taking about 1.5 weeks off due to leg pain. I thought week 7 would be easy but it really kicked my but. I don't know if it was me or the heat. The first time I attempted week 7 I nearly passed out, then the second time I tried the day one I finished it fine and was able to do the full free form runs. Then Day 2, I was able to do the first 5 minute run, but had to "free form" the other 3 five minute runs and was only able to do half. I started to get the woozy feeling I had the first time I did day 1. Then when I did day 3, I feel like I rocked it. I went straight through the first 5 minute run, straight into the drills. Usually i will walk 30 seconds between and walk through the skipping parts but I ran the staight through into the next 5 minute free form run and stopped to a walk at only a minute left on that, only because I was going up a hill and at that point I didn't have the energy if I wanted to do more fee form runs. Then I was able to pretty much do the other two free form runs ok.
However, I just don't think I will be ready for a 5k in just three more missions. I guess my question is, for those who have graduated and completed the 5K portion. How did it go?

I ran the last mission last week and it went okay, still need to improve my 5k time (it was about 40 min) but my goal was to get used to jogging without stopping for longer times and it kind of worked. I ran half of the time, walked about a minute or two, then ran the other half. I'm not about the time so much than about the distance.
The weeks i struggled with most were 5-6 because i did two weeks missions in one week and my leg hurt... loved week 7 because of the long free-form runs.
When i was training i jogged in one direction during the mission and when it ended i still had to get back so i jogged/walked back also...0 -
I am figuring it will take me about 40 minutes to run it, since my usual jogging pace is between 4.5-5 miles per hour. I know if I try to go fast I will burn myself out and won't be able to go far. I am focusing on distance first and I figure speed will come later. I just want to make it the 5K without stopping to walk at all, which includeds hills. I guess for my first time I would be satified if I only walked up the hills.0
