So how is everyone doing? I am just getting over some extremely fun MS..that lasted all day. I have been feeling a lot better that last few days so hopeing that is behind me. I didn't really have any MS with my son, so it was a fun and new experience :ohwell:

Has anyone else noticed a crazy appetite. I have been shooting to stay at maintenance but it hasn't been enough. I have decided to just listen to my body and if its hungry, I am going to feed it!

    Wishing everyone *feel good dust*!!

Yes! There are some days when it seems like I can't eat enough and it drives me crazy! Most of my nausea is gone, and I think I can handle some light jogging again.

I had my first ultrasound this week and the baby is measuring a week early, so my due date might be 12/12 instead of 12/19! Everything looked great and I heard the heartbeat and we finally started telling people the good news. It's been a good week.

    How is everyone else doing?

tell me about it! I'm so fed up of the MS now, but trying to just focus on one day at a time! Each time I have a better day I think I'm getting better, but actually it's just ups and downs! Still, it will pass... hopefully soon!

I have my first scan on Thursday (at 11+5) so will be really pleased to get that done, hopefully confirm everything is ok and then be able to start being more honest with people, especially work! I hate hiding things, but I really don't want to tell everyone until I know all is ok.

Hope everyone is keeping well and looking forward to getting into trimester 2 for a break!

How is everyone doing? Any luck with the morning sickness? I felt great last week and thought my MS was finally going away, but it came back in full force yesterday... On the plus side, had an ultrasound today at 11w4d and saw a healthy looking baby! The tech said that it was the most mobile fetus she had ever seen at that age. Guess I'm going to have my hands full with this one!

I am in the same boat, lol! Just when I think the MS is over, it decides to come back for a couple of days! Lately it has been this wonderful headache, accompanied by the never ending HUNGER!

Srsly, Ladies, I am hungry all the time. I am only 9 weeks and have already gained 5 lbs  I am hoping it is a lot of water weight since I have noticed my bra size jump quite a bit! I am trying by best to stay consistent with working out but have days where I am lucky to just function. Don't get me wrong, I know that all of the nausea and hunger is soooooooooo worth it but I am soooooooooooo ready for the second Tri! Doing "okay" with staying in my calorie goal but my sodium has been nuts lately. I have resorted to pre-packaged meals since I feel like I NEED TO EAT NOW. lol. I really just need to plan better

Anyone else feel like the water weight is really taking over?

I'm hoping and praying it's mostly water weight!! I'm 12 weeks Friday and have been super-bloated since even before pregnancy due to the hormone supplements I'm on (Progesterone and Estrogen). I go off them Friday and am curious if I will actually lose a pound or two over the next few days, or at least not gain for a little while. I'm up about 4 lbs since embryo transfer (I'm an IVF patient).

Super-excited for my appt tomorrow....first one with my regular nurse practitioner. Although I'll miss my specialist soooo much, it's nice to be a "normal pregnancy" now. Kinda nervous too. I always knew what to expect with my specialist, and have no clue what a regular appt entails!

how is everyone doing? I've had my first scan now (which brought my due date forward to 4th December, but still a December date!) and showed everything seems to be ok so that's a relief. I was also diagnosed as anaemic which explains some of my utter exhaustion so I now have an iron supplement (and trying to improve my diet of course).
The MS is still there although I seem to be managing better at the moment - or maybe I'm just used to it!

also meant to say - am hoping that I stop needing to eat so much soon (it's the only thing that helps the MS) - I've put on 10lb already which is frightening (at 12 1/2 weeks...) - I can't keep this up!

Hi, everybody! I'm Michelle, and I'm about 12 weeks pregnant! This is our 8th, so I'm kind of old hand at this now, LOL. The kids were all super excited when we told them, and our youngest (who is almost 5) is completely thrilled about the prospect of being a big brother. He talks about the baby all the time, and is convinced it's a boy. (I'm hoping for a girl, then we'll have four of each.)

So, I'm technically due on December 12th, but based on my previous babies I'm expecting this one more like Christmas. Wouldn't it be fun to have a baby on Christmas? :)

I usually have horrible, debilitating morning sickness. This time I have been taking Unisom, and it's amazing how much it helps. I didn't start taking it until I'd looked at all the research on whether it was safe (yay for having a DH who works in a hospital and has easy access to medical studies), and when I started it was like night and day. One day I was barely able to sit at the dining table with my tablet, and the next day I didn't feel sick at all. Tired still, but not a trace of nausea.

I'm still having a hard time eating, though. I take like two bites of my food, and I'm full. Yet somehow, with barely eating and then throwing half of that up before I started taking the Unisom, I had gained ten pounds by my first appointment! How is that possible? It has to be water weight, right? I have lost like three pounds since then, but still. I don't get it.

PS, I'd really like to find someone who is due sometime close to me -- within a month or so -- to be my accountability buddy. Just someone to share goals and encourage each other? Anybody interested?

Hope everyone is doing well! I'm 13 weeks today. Wondering when I'll start to show. I found a few dresses yesterday on clearance so I picked them up...they're maternity but don't look like it. $8 from Target so I couldn't resist. I find jeans are not comfy, so I bought a pair of maternity capris and I tell ya...they'll be my "Thanksgiving pants" for years to come. So comfy!

We may announce to my in-laws this weekend. We're not close and my husband doesn't seem excited to tell them so who knows. My mom, brother, friends, etc... who know were so elated that I think the reaction from my in-laws will be a let down. Anyone experience that....telling people and not getting a positive reaction? (We're in our 30's, happily married, financially stable, I work part-time...really, it couldn't be a better situation to have a baby. But we still fear telling them, for some reason....)

*yes, clearly it's our first. Otherwise I wouldn't be anticipating the time when I actually show.

Lisa, yeah, I've been there with people not being happy for me. My family has never, ever been happy for me having a baby. They put a lot of pressure on me to go to college and have a career and all of that. I dreamed of being a SAHM. When I had my first baby, they were disappointed and upset because it meant I wasn't going back to college. (I wasn't anyway.) I also had two young step-children, who I have raised as my own, so my family decided I had "enough" children. When we decided to TTC another, my grandmother flat out told me that she was praying I wouldn't get pregnant, and that having four children would put me in an asylum. (She had four children, and she seems to be fine!)

I'm 32. My husband is a leader in his field, and makes good money. I'm very happy at home with my children, living the life I always wanted, but my family can't stand it. My mom still asks me all the time when I'm going to get "fixed" (when I'm good and ready!), and my grandmother still sends me college brochures in the mail. I didn't even tell them when I got pregnant this time. We told our friends and my in-laws, but my family found out when I put the first ultrasound photo up on Facebook.

Wow, Michelle...that's awful! I certainly don't expect anything negative, just general lack of enthusiasm. Over the years they have made it pretty clear that we're "selfish" in their eyes because we spent the first 10 yrs of our marriage traveling domestically & internationally, pursuing higher educations and hobbies, and nurturing friendships and our own relationship with each other. While I think all these experiences make us better prepared to be parents, they're in the "sex is for procreation purposes" camp and see us as probably "wasting" the first 10+ yrs of our marriage.

All our friends and family that know have wept tears of joy and excitement for us. We've had fertility issues and it wasn't an easy journey. My in-laws don't know any of this so I suspect they'll see it from a very different perspective.

Congrats on living your own life. I know it's not always the easy thing to do.

Thanks. Having good friends, and great in-laws helps. :)

Congratulations on finally getting your baby after a long struggle! That's really awesome! :)

How is everyone doing? Hoping some of that MS is starting to shift now! I'm still feeling quite sick, but *I think* less than I was. Also a bit less exhausted but that will be partly iron levels going back up!
Am getting huge though - already put on 14lb which is frightening - only put on 25 in total with last pregnancy! Must stop eating...
Hoping to get on with some more exercise soon, have just been so drained it's not happened at all, but will try to get out walking again soon.

Ugh. Trying not to be discouraged. I miss my pre preggo body!

Right there with ya. I've been trying to exercise three days a week, but I'm so exhausted. I have managed to do "something active" almost every day, whether going for a walk, taking the kids to the pool, etc. I gained ten pounds in the first few weeks, and my doctor was shocked (so was I!), but I haven't gained anything sense then.

So, I'm starting the second trimester tomorrow. Should I go ahead and change my goal to "gain 1/2 pound per week"?

14 weeks today! I have an ultrasound tomorrow to make sure the small amount of bleeding the dr. saw in my last u/s has resolved itself. I think it has, since I haven't had any bleeding or spotting, and I *think* I've felt the baby a few times. I'm hoping for good news tomorrow!

I still have a tiny little bleed by the placenta, but it hasn't gotten any worse and the baby is growing perfectly! It was very wiggly during the u/s today, and had a heartbeat of 157. I'm really thinking this one is a boy!

cdbarger--Glad all is good! I had a pretty severe bleed at 5 weeks and I wouldn't wish it on anyone.

bangmeup--I think you were asking about when you might start to show? I saw my specialist today (not for medical reasons, just popped by to donate extra fertility meds I had and visit with the staff) and she said 5-6 months is often "normal" for first time moms.

In my visit with her, I mentioned I picked up a home Doppler and where I find the heartbeat (just over the pubic bone) and she confirmed I'm doing it right if that's where I'm hearing it at this point (15 weeks...it's been there since 9 weeks which is why I asked her). I still feel nothing. Honestly. I pulled a 21 hour day yesterday and wasn't even that tired. She told me to revel in it, that it is ideal to be able to say that, and number 2 might not be so kind! I have my 16 week appt next week Tuesday but it sounds boring--blood work (quad screen), weight, bp, urine, etc... I think I'm up about 3 lbs this month. No ultrasound until the anatomy scan at 20 weeks. Hope everyone is doing well. Have a great Father's Day weekend!

Cdbarger- YAY so happy that all went well- I love hearing great news :)

Lisapr123- thanks for that info- so I will be 15 weeks Tommorrw, so on the pregnancy calender that would put me at a little over 4 months, So hopefully by this time next month I will have a bump or at the latest August- I too have a follow up tomorrow at 15 weeks that is just for them to check my logging of blood sugars and then decide if I need meds or not, my 16 week appointment is on June 24th, which is probably pretty boring as well, I won't get another ultrasound until July 15th at the atonomy scan- I can't wait that long to find out the gender , I am getting impatient lol, I am thinking about asking them tomorrow is there anyway I can't get a gender scan earlier and of course I will still get my atonomy scan on July 15th, it won't hurt to ask right?

I too am finding some energy again I since I hit the 2nd Tri I was told to enjoy it while it last bc in the 3rd Trimester that extremely tired feeling comes back with a vengence.......

Hey everyone, Congratulations! I am due 19th of Dec so 14wks tomorrow... Finally getting over my MS, YUKKY!
I started off at my dream weight and have now crept up 6lbs, which isn't the end of the world but I am just a little sad to see my waist go and my body get bigger! I feel like a bad mum already for wanting to stop eating NOW :( I will try to manage with planning my whole day on MFP before hand (as of today, ha) so hopefully I will stay on track that way but hunger is a pretty powerful thing... I feel like eating gummy bears but will try a carrot instead (can't wait...). I could use a buddy for inspiration and support :)

I gained 60 lbs with my daughter..pregnant now with my second (thankfully I got down to my pre pregnancy weight before getting pregnant again!) Due Dec 5th. My midwife told me to eat about 300 over maintenance and that I should gain about 15-20, so that is what I'm aiming for. I'm also focusing on my protein intake, I can't eat meat hardly (makes me sick) so I really need to keep an eye on that and get about 80g a day.

Wow, great job getting back in shape after your first pregnancy! I don't eat meat either, am supplementing with eggs, cheese and take an iron supplement which helps me heaps, otherwise I'd feel exhausted. Maybe get your iron levels tested if you start feeling tired, might be from lack of iron since you're not eating meat now

Thank you! I try to eat eggs and cheese (melted only) otherwise it makes me sick..weird lol. I did have my iron tested at the docs last time and the levels were fine. I have been feeling extremely tired though..and wondering what the cause is. Everyone keeps bringing up the iron thing. Do you know even if your levels are supposedly normal if you can still take an iron supplement?

Well, I take an iron tablet every other day to maintain my current levels. Even if they are on the low side you can feel very different and exhausted and for me the tablets do wonders. I take a tablet that also has vitamin C in it for easy absorption. Check with your doctor maybe to see if he thinks it is ok for you to take. Otherwise you can take them for a few weeks and then have your blood tested to see if it doesn't get too high, cause that's bad.. What a hassle :)
Are you eating and resting enough?
  • Flybeetle
    Flybeetle Posts: 387 Member
I go to see my midwife on Monday so I'll ask to make sure they checked my iron and see if I should take a supplement. As far as eating and resting yes. I'm trying to eat 300 over maintenance but I BARELY make it to that..I'm lucky to hit maintenance everyday. Bye the time I get to maintenance I'm done and just can't eat anymore. Rest, yup I get tons of rest..maybe too much lol

Well, I reckon that might be the issue (qualifified GP that I am(not)) your baby will take all the nutrition he or she needs and if you're only barely eating maintenance there might not be enough nutrients left for you! Maintenance, I guess is for when you're not pregnant... I know it can be hard to eat when you don't feel like it though, maybe see if you can make some nice smoothies that you can drink to get some extra calories in. I sometimes make one with

    3 handfuls of spinach
    1 banana,
    1/2 cup (frozen) blueberries,
    1tbsp unsweetened cacao
Any kind of milk (cow, rice, soy)

Possibly add peanut butter if you like that sort of thing, or dates or anything else to sweeten it, vanilla essence

That will surely give you a healthy boost and easier to get down than a plate of sandwiches! Hope that helps :)

Oh yes, and my iron levels are in the normal range, by the way, and I still benefit immensely from an iron tablet every other day. Even in the normal range I can be exhausted without them...

I feel like I am having more issues with this pregnancy than ever before! I went to the doctor today and he told me I have a low-lying placenta, and I need to have another u/s in a few weeks to see if it has moved up. Most of the time it does, but I'm still going to have that little concern in the back of my head. And then he says I need to have more blood tests because they found Hep C! I have absolutely no idea how I could have gotten it, and now I have something else to be concerned about. I honestly feel that there was a mistake.

Right now these aren't actual issues, just potential ones, but that doesn't stop me from worrying. I am hoping and praying that everything resolves and I can have a nice, boring pregnancy.

I am going to really appreciate this little baby when I finally get to hold it in my arms!
