Gastroparesis...anyone else?

Anyone else deal with Gastroparesis and having major issues with trying to control your BS? I'm working on another pump to help control it since they took the loaner I had when I was pregnant. I'm all over the place, anywhere from 400 to 30's. I take 10mg of reglin 4x a day to try and help but even that doesn't get absorbed well. Just wanting to know I'm not the only one dealing with it...since it's VERY frustrating!

I'm sorry you're having to deal with this. Some days are so frustrating having to live with diabetes. Other days, I'm well aware that there are so many people with more serious issues than mine. But, it doesn't make the day to day living with it easier.
I do not have this problem yet. Been type 1 for 40 years. I totally feel lucky with the few issues that I have. I really can't even fall them complications, yet. My daughter was diagnosed at age 4. I cried for 3 days. She'd just look at me and say" mommy, it's no big deal, I'm just like you!" She say when she didn't feel good, I'd take care of her, and when I didn't feel good, she'd take care of me! WOW!!! She's 25 now, and we're planning her wedding!
Good luck. One day at a time. All we can do is the best we can. The rest is our of our hands.

I have been T1D since I was 8, 22 1/2 yrs. I was really rough for me. I was living in a small town, no one in my family was diabetic, and no one we knew in town was either. I was harassed and teased in school because of it so it made me resent it so much. I didn't care so did whatever I wanted and ate whatever I wanted. Those bad habits really die hard. I have several complications because of that, and I wish I could go back in time. I have the Gastro, Retinopathy, Neuropathy, Celiac Disease, Foot Ulcers, and severe weight loss (my reason for wanting to gain weight). I know now days people are more educated about it, but my fear is that either of my son's get it. I'm constantly keeping an eye on them and how many times they use the restroom or how thirsty they are. I don't want them to go through what I did, or do what I did...

I'm going to be planning my own wedding here soon, as soon as he decides to officially ask...lol. I want to be as healthy as I can be and at a better weight for my wedding, which is one of the reasons I joined MFP, so that I can easily keep track of what I eat and have better numbers to gage my insulin to carb ratio for my current injections and when I hopefully get the pump. It's just so hard not knowing when my stomach will digest and figuring out insulin because of it. A lot of times I take my insulin, and it takes forever to digest so I go low, then later on I digest and go high bc of no insulin to cover for it. I take my shots about an hour after I eat to help a little with not going low, but even still it only helps a bit.

Wow. I knew I was lucky. Good luck with the wedding plans. He needs to hurry up and ask!!! I use to test both kids' bs ever since they were born. We figured out our daughter had it way before a doctor would have known. She had just had a physical 2 weeks prior and her sugar was fine. She had the chicken pox, and it attacked her pancreas. Really bites! but, we have to accept what we can't change and do the best we can.

I have gastro, and go through bouts of it. My last one was in January. I lost 30 lbs in 3 weeks. I finally started getting better in April. Some days are worse than others, but I have learned many of the foods to stay away from. I think the biggest relief I got was from walking for 60 minutes everytime I put something in my stomach. It really does help because of the movement and gravity. I wish you the best of luck in dealing with it, I know it can be so hard.

Mine was triggered because of severe strep throat. I was so sick for 2 weeks. My lips were black from scabbing and looked like raw hamburger underneath. I lost 20 lbs as a 7yo and was so thin. I got better but still didn't feel good. That was in Nov. Over Christmas my dad was yelling at me for drinking so much and having to stop for the bathroom so often on our trip but they still didn't figure it out. Finally mom took me to the dr Jan. 21 of 91, they did my blood test and I was 425. It was a small town with no hospital so they had me go by ambulance to the nearest city which was an hour and a half away. I spent a week there learning about T1D. I was so confused! It was only a month after I turned 8.

I can try walking. I have a hard time walking sometimes because of the ulcers on my feet, I have diabetic shoes but still it's painful.

He's waiting to ask because he wants to make sure everything is perfect. And he's waiting to talk to my dad. He can't call him because he is in a nursing home with no communication abilities. He won't actually get an answer from him, but he knows how much it means to me. And then will ask my Uncle Rick who is like my second father for my hand. Plus he is designing the ring himself and wants that done and paid for before he asks as well.
