Gaining weight after baby

I'm a bit frustrated right now. I gained 40lb during pregnany, lost 20lbs within the first 2 weeks after giving birth. I have now gained back 8 of those pounds (3 months pp). I recently quit nursing due to extremely low supply and going back to work. I have been eating healthy and being more active the last few weeks and have gained 4 lbs. UGH! Are my hormones the problem?? I am not on BC since they make me the nastiest person on earth. Does it take this long for hormones to even out? I am going to continue eating healthy and exercising, but I was just wondering if anyone else is having the same problem?

I'm 18mths post partum now but I gained weight after stopping nursing at 4 months. In total, I ended up gaining 20 lbs which put me back to where I was when I was pregnant. It took me a while to get motivated to lose it but it's coming off slowly but surely now. Good luck to you!

Nursing burns a lot of calories, so maybe you stopped but kept eating the same? That would probably account for weight gain.

I'm in the same boat over here. I was 6 lbs away from my pre-pregnancy weight after I delivered, and I've gained 14 >.<
I blame fenugreek. My supply is ridiculously low - My EBF newborn gained ZERO (went from 10.3 to 9.5) weight and didn't poop (on his own) for a month - so I'm trying to up it, which means I shouldn't limit my intake too much. There's no winning.

Well, as soon as I stopped nursing I lowered my calories so I know that's not the problem. =( I am not eating enough to be gaining like this! Maybe my body is just in shock. I am a pretty active person so my maintanence is 2000, so I eat about 1700 which is a decent cut. I guess I should just be patient as this may be water gain since I started exercising more? I guess it is nice to know I am not the only one, as everyone I know that has had a baby is already running around in a bikini! =(

I know the feeling! Just be patient and remember that it took 9 months to put on the weight. Don't give up. ANd yes, it's normal to gain 5 lbs with new exercises. :) good luck!

Thanks ks4e! I know I put on more than I should have, but it sucks I have to work SOOO hard to lose it while others lose it effortlessly.

hmmmmm tough one!! I gained weight after I gave birth due to eating so much while breastfeeding, I was hungry 24/7 so I ate ..............more like binged 24/7 and gained 15lbs the first month post partum!!! im now weighing, with my 4lbs loss. what I weighed the day I gave birth :( its sad! Im not breastfeeding anymore but im finding it easier to lose the weight so far this first week of actually trying. im not sure how long it takes for your hormones to even back out when you stop nursing but maybe theyre having an issue trying to figure out what to do
