  • My name is Becca. I am 28. I created this group because I need motivation to stay on track. Here is a little back story of how I came to be where I am.

As a young teen I was diagnosed with PCOS. Doctors began to mention fertility problems, but as a 15 year old girl that was the last thing I was thinking about. I have had an absent period since I even began my cycle. So early on I was put on BC to regulate my period. I have had 4 or 5 natural periods. I never really cared until I realized that I wanted a baby. As I got older I began to pack on weight and couldn't lose it if my life depended on it. Well turns out... it does. I was diagnosed with type II diabetes and hypo thyroid in April 2013. Along with the PCOS I was shocked and totally bummed. With proper medication. I've went from 255l bs. to 237 lbs. Although this is amazing to me seeming as I could never lose the weight before. I know I still have a ways to go before I can TTC. Not only do I need to lose this weight but I need to keep my blood sugar and Thyroid in check. My goal is 165. I am excited to be losing weight but I also need people to check in and keep me in line. I find myself doing really well.. and then a bday or holiday comes up and BAM... 2 lbs. back. My biggest and hardest habit to kick... SODA. I've been drinking a lot more water and weight training with my Husband at the Gym and I try to do at least 20 minute dvds at home when I don't go to the gym and have the energy... I just need some pats on the back and encouragement to keep going!! Now, tell me about yourself and lets help each other!!

    Best,
    Becca

I'm Stacy I'm 32 I always had regular but really heavy periods, always struggled with my weight lost weight a few times but never able to keep it off. I was diagnosed with Hypertesion when I was 25 they did many tests but didn't find any reason for my high bloodpressure so they just said it was because of my weight.

I did not get married until i was 30 and about 6 months after we got married decided to start trying for a baby. I went to the DR right after I went off of birthcontrol and I mentioned that I have hair on my face and she dismissed it as a minor horomone imbalance nothing to wory about. After going off birthcontrol I started to gain weight in fact I gained 35 pounds in 6 months. Ended up swiching insurance to my husband's insurance so I was able to use the free clinic the school district provides. IT was that DR who knew what was up she diagnosed me with PCOS and perscribed me with metformin. Since then my weight has been going done. 58 pounds since January, my blood pressure is improving while I'm working on getting off meds. But we have been trying for a year with no success. I am finishing up my second cycle of clomid and will be seeing a fertility specialist next Friday.
  • Welcome Stacy!! My sister-in-laws name as well!!!! :) I am glad to have you here!! I was beginning to think I wouldn't recruit anyone. I've been pretty bummed and I can't seem to get motivated.. even though I know it is for my ultimate goal of TTC. I've always known about my PCOS from a young age which I'm sure you may have read. But I never knew in my wildest dreams it would turn into this nightmare TTC. I recently went on my husbands insurance as well to get better help. I have a lot of chemical imbalance. Not only my hormones but my brain leading to depression etc... which I guess could be from my hormones. But I was put on some crappy meds from Gov't assistance and I gained a lot of weight!!! Which made everything worse. But finally This April I was able to get some answers from a doctor I had seen 3 years ago, loved but couldn't afford to keep seeing. But type II Diabetes and Thyroid problem run in our family (the women) I had a physical and my PCOS test came back negative but my doctor said it was because I am now diabetic, and my sugar levels were so high that it couldn't read the result properly. Which scared me!! I am always tired!! So my thyroid test results didn't really shock me either. She started me on new a new med that could control my depression/anxiety/insomnia in one (which btw it is 3 am but I had to respond!!) I am doing so well with it and she knows I want to TTC so she said most likely I will be able to stay on it if I get pregnant. I was started on 500mg Metformin and also Synthroid. I dropped about 18 lbs in a month but I am now on Armour Thryo which is natural. (My mother in law had her thyroid removed and recommened it) Natural would be better for a baby anyhow!! Although my TTC mission is on hold because my Dr. wants me to be at a healthy weight and get my blood sugar and thyroid in control.. which is understandable... I am still bummed because I have wanted this baby for so so long. I haven't had any trouble with blood pressure so I don't understand how your Dr. would just chuck it up to have more weight than others... :( But with all these recent issues, I know I still have an underlying issue of PCOS. So when I do get to my baby making weight I don't know where I will have to go from there.. because I have a completely absent period. What is Clomid? Does that make you ovulate? Sound familiar. My Best Friend had to be put on meds to ovulate and have a cycle.. took her almost 2 years to conceive. Hope I get that lucky. Good with your next appointment. Keep me updated!! Now I've just got to motivate myself to keep eating right and resist the soda and sugar work out and remember "BABIES, BABIES, BABIES!!"

Something that is helping me with staying on track is taking everything that I have learned out loosing weight and throwing it out the window. Do not buy non or low fat stuff unless it is naturally low or non fat, Full fat is best, Bacon is GOOD you can eat Bacon! I eat lower carb trying to also eat low gluten. And exercise exercise exercise.

Check out PCOSDIVA.com, PCOSNutrition.com and ConqueryourPCOSnaturally.com. They give you some good tips for eating.

Oh and Clomid is a common fertility drug it's usually the first one DR's go to, it makes you ovulate and makes your ovulation more viable.

Hi, I'm Desiree. We are TTC for #2. I'm currently in the middle of the horrible TWW. And this cycle I ovulated on my own!!! I have PCOS and if I don't get pregnant this cycle I will be going to an RE to help get my PCOS under control and help get pregnant. WE have been trying for over a year and half. I'm really hoping to lose at least 20 more pounds before I get pregnant or start gaining from a pregnancy.
  • Welcome Desiree!! I envy you already!! Baby # 2!! Go for it girl!! I wish I could be a little closer to my TTC stage BUT I know I need to get my diabetes and thyroid issues under control first. Thank family genetics (lol) That is awesome that you ovulated on your own!!!!! I wish you the best of luck!! I've been losing weight with my meds but I know I am reversing my progress by drinking this awful soda........ so hard to break free from. I get these ridiculous headaches but I'm trying wean myself off. Doesn't help with all these birthdays and holidays and coming from a family that loves to eat. I hope that I can lose that 20 pounds with you girlie!!
  • I will def have to check those sites out!! And oh my, I love Bacon but it does not love me.... I think because I could literally eat a whole plate.... which I am sure we aren't supposed to do LOL. I know when I am at a healthy weight, the Dr.s will probably put me on some medication like that to make me ovulate. But I have no idea being diabetic now. My Dr. said I might actually have to see a specialist to make sure I take all the proper precautions.. I guess with gestational diabetes or something... I am assuming.. I have no idea yet. I just want to hurry up and be at that point already, but I know that all depends on me and my will power.. and that is one reason I created this group.. to be held accountable, haha. We will get there!!! One day at a time! :)
