Amount of calories each day

I was just wondering how you chose how many calories you want to take in each day. I didn't like the automatic 1600 that this site gave me. I remember trying out another site last year and that one put me somewhere around 1200-1300 cal. Thoughts?

    Hmm I think you have to try it out and see how you feel. I know that I have been eating 1200 or so and not really losing. I do not overeat and have been told it's because I'm working out and not eating enough. I'm adding back in veggies/fruits and protein. I think also let your body clue you in.

    What's your workout looking like? I think you can calculate your BMR and then go from there.

    MFP calculated mine based on my weight and my activity level and how many pounds I wanted to lose a week. Did you go through that set up process?
