John 8:1-11
Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)
8 Jesus went unto the mount of Olives.
2 And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came unto him; and he sat down, and taught them.
3 And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst,
4 they say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act.
5 Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou?
6 This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not.
7 So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.
8 And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground.
9 And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.
10 When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee?
11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.

PRAYER: Dear God, Jesus spoke tenderly to the woman, others accused. He had the authority to condemn--to judge her, but he says he does not condemn her. He doesn’t hold her guilty of what they accused her of. When we are broken, you don’t beat us up, but give us a helping hand. Help us to be tender, like Jesus in our faith and give a helping hand to those in need that your Name may be glorified. Amen

OBSERVE:
Take a moment and write down three observations of the verses. What strikes you? An observation is an observable fact from the Word.
1. They were quick, as humans, to judge and condemn the woman.
2. Jesus was/is quick to forgive.
3. We are all sinners. It is better to support/help our fellow man than to cast stones.
INTERPRETATION:
What do you interpret these verses to mean for you today?
These verses meant a lot to me. I am currently living in a 3rd world country and am doing the work God sent me to do. The beliefs and traditions here are so different than my own so everyday has been a struggle for me. God has told me that these are His people and He loves them as He loves me. It's often hard for me to get past my judgements but God is changing my heart. The Lord just loves so much..He is so forgiving. Verses that popped into my head: (Romans 3:23-24 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus) and (Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.)

Today, I learned more about the fullness of God and apply it to my life. Forgive me Lord fro being so quick to judge your people.0 -

Take a moment and write down three observations of the verses. What strikes you? An observation is an observable fact from the Word.
1. Jesus turned to the accusers of the woman, taken in adultery, and challenged the one without sin to cast the first stone.
2. When Jesus asked her if no one had condemned her, she said they had gone.
3. Jesus answers that he does not condemn her, either and to sin no more.
INTERPRETATION:
What do you interpret these verses to mean for you today?
This passage is an amazing instance. Unique. Jesus is without sin. Adultery is wrong. The punishment is stoning. Jesus could have condemned her. He could have stoned her...or punished her in another way.
He didn't. Instead he says he does NOT condemn her. He does NOT judge her guilty. He doesn't say "I forgive you of 'the crime of adultery.'" He says, "Neither do I condemn you."
Why would Jesus not condemn a women caught in the act of sin?
I interpret this that she was not at fault. Jesus didn't hold her accountable for it. Why would that be?
In addition, if she was caught in the act, where was the 'man' who she was caught in the act with? Why is the woman the only one being punished here?
The man is not being punished. The woman is being accused. They were caught in the act. Everyone knows she was engaged in sexual relations. Why wouldn't Jesus hold up the 10 Commandments and say that she is condemned, but he forgives her?
Why does Jesus not condemn her? Jesus knows something we don't. He knows and states that she is not guilty.
If she was found in a compromising position, what would possibly make Jesus declare her not guilty? (not guity, but forgiven, actually NOT GUILTY, by the one who knows and is our judge?
I submit she was not consenting to the 'adultery' and she was being raped. Women had no power.
Jesus speaks tenderly to a wounded woman, who has suffered first the indignity of rape, and then the indignity of being accused/convicted and paraded on display.
Recently, a Norwegian woman was pardoned (she had been condemned, convicted and served prison time after she reported being raped in Dubai) by the king and was free.
http://www.cnn.com/2013/07/22/world/meast/uae-norway-rape-controversy/index.html
Jesus, our king, did not hold this woman as guilty of a sin. He knew she was not accountable for the deed.
He didn't have to say, "I forgive you." as he did for others he healed. Instead, he frees her with an absolute NOT GUILTY verdict.
His only command, was to sin no more. You have been given a reprieve.
Victims of rape, often find themselves thinking they are so worthless, that they indulge in all kinds of behavior that is not right for them. I believe Jesus was empowering her to find herself worthy enough that she didn't have to reduce herself to that kind of behavior.
We need to give rape victims the feeling that they are clean and not tainted by the rape, so they can go out into the world again and feel worthy of protecting themselves...and not falling into a sense of worthlessness that leads to risky behaviors.
Go and sin no more, was Jesus' code for her to feel empowered to take charge of her life. Be well. Be healthy. Live the good life that Christ wants for us.

Today, I learned that we are empowered by Jesus, and not condemned when we are victims of crimes against us.

1. The Pharisees brought in a woman caught in adultery.
2. Jesus said “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her."
3. “Then neither do I condemn you,” Jesus declared to her. “Go now and leave your life of sin.”
INTERPRETATION:

Jesus is not going to condemn us for our sins, He just wants us to stop sinning. Though it is not completely possible we need to try our best not to sin and don't judge other who do.

1. Jesus was teaching in the temple
2. When the woman caught in adultery was brought by the men to the temple, Jesus went on as though he didn't hear their accusations of her
3. No one cast a stone at her
INTERPRETATION:

These verses tell me that we shouldn't judge others without first taking a hard look at ourselves. Even if that person is 'caught in the act' of whatever wrong they are guilty of. It also tells me that when people come to me making accusations of another that my response should not be one that is likely to feed their emotional tirade.
