For me it's Shingeki no Kyojin!

Shingeki no Kyojin is probably the one I'm most looking forward to as well.

Another Higurashi addition seems to be slated sometime this month (Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kaku: Outbreak), so I'm pretty interested in that. And then there's Devil Survivor 2 (part of the Shin Megami Tensei/Persona line, and oddly enough not a sequel)... looks like it has promise.
Then there's Shima Kousaku no Asia Risshiden... about a Japanese businessman being a Japanese businessman. Not remotely exciting, but the sheer unusual mundanity of such a show makes me strangely eager to give it a shot.

Honestly, this is kind of a bland-looking season for me.

This season looks incredibly disappointing, especially since we've had two awesome seasons in a row. As you two mentioned, Shingeki no Kyojin is looking the most promising at the moment. Series I've looked into already:

Karneval is finally animated! Whoot, so purttyy...exactly like the manga. Mamoru Miyano, Daisuke Ono, Hiroshi Kamiya, YESYESYESYESYES. *cough* >>..<<...>>...

Watched first episode of Dansai Bunri no Crime Edge, pretty drop worthy. The screen-writing and pacing was pretty awful, but I'll see next episode.

Ginga Kikoutai Majestic Prince is also looking pretty drop worthy. It looked a bit like Gundam Seed art-wise, but it was a mesh of mech, school-life, and comedy that didn't really go well together. The battle scene was okay, and was the only thing fairly interesting in the entire episode.

Devil Survivor 2 The Animation first episode was pretty decent, but from the get-go, it'll probably stay "decent," I don't expect much from it.

Hataraku Maou-Sama is another work I'm going to check out. I can't help but think of Maoyuu Maou Yuusha...(second season, plzkthx)

Going to see if Arata Kangatari is any good. I haven't bothered reading the manga. I was never a fan of Yuu Watase's works, but maybe she's better at shounen than shoujo.

Uta no☆Prince-sama♪ Maji Love 2000%...rofl. I dropped the first season, I wonder if the second season will not be as cringe-worthy. Beginning sequence was equally as fabulous though.

Not sure what to ecpect from Suisei no Gargantia at the moment. Production I.G. has been inconsistent as of late. Guilty Crown as an original was a disappointment, but Psycho Pass was pretty decent ;x.

Asia Risshiden no Shima Kousaku seems like a change of pace, will probably check that out.

Will also watch the Hanasaku no Iroha movie, STEINSGATEMOVIEYESYESYES, (it better be good >>,) and yet another installment of Higurashi. What else can they do with it now? I'd like to see some Umineko, but projects always go to the series that makes more money I guess...*sigh*

I second this! Unfortunately, Umineko was just terrible for the first couple of episodes, and I think that doomed its ratings early on. :/

I agree on that. After that, people who watched it either loved it, or hated it. There was a lot of mixed opinions.

I honestly think it's because the lack of moe in it, *shakeshead*

Ugh, moe. You're right. There's nothing wrong with it, but why is it fan-enforced standard? I enjoyed Haruhi, but I always felt that its particular emphasis on moe really damaged the industry. Though I suppose every "era" of anime has a few such titles which define it more than they should.

Speaking of moe expectations: Aku no Hana. I haven't watched it, but I'm having trouble understanding the outlash against it. "It looks too realistic!" A quarter of its ratings on MAL have given it a 1/10, presumably for this reason. The artistic choice is quite obviously intentional, using rotoscoping (like Waking Life and A Scanner Darkly). It doesn't match classical ideas of beauty, to be certain, but do we really have to attack a show for pioneering unusual artwork concepts?

I watched it, and all honesty, I felt rather shocked looking at the rating it got, (lowest score on MAL, was 4.80 when I looked.) I thought it was very creative and very brave of the director to try this style, and I thought it worked well. It did a great job creating a unique atmosphere that had me almost on the edge of my seat, possibly due to the music, which I thought was pretty great.

It was mostly manga readers groaning about how they didn't get their slice of moe moe kawaii school girls, and got realistic, (THE HORROR!) girls instead *rollseyes* Probably 40% of this season is moe, they can watch all those other series instead, there are plenty of them.

It's very sad that the otaku community has become such a picky, finicky bunch that has limited themselves to only a few, (albeit not even great,) elements in an anime...

By the way, anyone watch Shingeki no Kyojin yet? MAN, DID IT DELIVER O-O.

Hataraku Maou-Sama - I laughed so hard in several scenes.

Arata Kangatari - typical shoujo in shounen disguise, it's going to be mediocre. Most people I know are only watching it for the bishies. The bishies aren't that good-looking either. Will still watch anyway since there isn't much this season.

Suisei no Gargantia started out pretty well too, although there's only 12 episodes, so let's see how this goes. The animation was pretty good, but I found the solid, bright color palette they chose to be too jarring at times, looked almost like a six year old picking out the colors for the main characters' eyes or somethin' o-O.

You know, I think I'll try Aku no Hana just because of your description there. The synopsis sounded less than captivating to me (the plot just seems more convenient and melodramatic than anything), but if your reaction to it was that good, then it's definitely worth a try.
(and as an added bonus, if I like it I get to distance myself further from the "moetard" otaku faction)

Totally looking forward to the next episode of Shingeki no Kyojin! I admit that it's mostly because of its damned good visual effects at this point, but those effects are quite something. And, unlike so many other titles this season, the plot has the potential to go places and be interesting.

Hadn't really considered Hataraku Maou-sama, but maybe I'll give it a look.

I am loving Shingeki no Kyojin so very much... Binged on the manga after episode two.

I did that after the fourth episode. I couldn't stand the cliffhanger. Haha.
