I just sent an opener to a girl on Match. .

Then. . as I looked closer I realized she looked familiar. .

Yep. . it was a girl I'd gone on one date with almost 2 years ago!

In my defense She looked a LOT different (better) and had changed all her pics and her username!. .

Still . . what a dope!

If she looks a lot beter I think it would have only been a mishap if you didn't send her a message.

Yeah, you gotta try to play that one off like you knew, or just work it into a well crafted compliment.

    Hope you get a reply!

I reached back into my memory and somehow dredged up her name! (which is a feat for me). . so. . yeah. . I sent her another message admitting my mistake, carefully and tactfully complimenting her on how good she looks (this is tricky, as you all know) . . and using her real name. .

One time I ended up on a date with someone who was 10 years older than his pics and he was saying he was 40. In reality this guy could of been my dad...ewwww.

I had a guy do that last weekend... I responded using his name and asking him if he was ready for school to start (he's a teacher). Freaked him the he|| out. He asked if I knew him or what... I told him we talked at length last summer, and then he finally remembered me.

Good or bad, it was rather entertaining.

oops! but if she looks better and the first date wasn't a major fail, then why not try again?

I have had plenty of duplicate messages from men, but not from ones I have met before.

Hahah, mine trumps everything so far, I think.

About six years ago I was talking to a girl online, getting to know her somewhat. She was quite a looker and seemed like a great person. Even texted with her a lot. We planned to actually meet up on Halloween, but before that could happen, she confessed that she was actually not straight.. and not a girl after all (it was a gay guy using some poor lady's pictures). Luckily his conscience got the best of him and I didn't end up quite as catfish'd as I could have.

I didn't even go off on him or get pissed off. I was just kind of "meh" about it.

Aside that, nothing real noteworthy. Everyone else I've met in person has been who they stated they were from the internet.

I ended up on a lunch date with a guy 30 years older, had kids my age. People in the cafe kept looking at us and snickering. I politely gave him about 30 minutes of my time (after all, he paid for lunch) and made my phone go off as a departure excuse.

Another time, I couldn't find my date because in his Match.com profile he was long-haired, one-week beard, shaggy rocker type but in person he had a military buzz cut and was about 60lbs heavier. This guy, you might remember, had the nerve to tell me I was awfully broad shouldered.

    wow.

Speaking of the age thing, you look great for 88! (going by your MFP profile) What's your secret? Is it to ward off the creepers? I've heard from other ladies on here that they fake their age so as not to get as many creepers.

    Yes, that's part of it.
