Considering a Dietitian

So, I work at a hospital with nurses and we can see some specialists for free. One suggested that since I do have a history of ednos that my metabolism probably isn't normal and won't ever be and I might need different nutrients than the typical person because of it. But I'd have to admit my issues to a GP I don't feel comfortable with, he's not skeevy or anything, I just don't care for his bedside manner. I'm also not really sure a dietitan would be able to tell me anything that I don't already know or that they'd tell me to eat a lot low fat, low cal, sugar free, chemical crap storm fake foods. What do you guys think?

I am a recovering Bulimic and I have been going to a Dietician for several months now. I would highly recommend it. I am not sure what yours would be like but I am pretty sure they would not tell you to eat that diet-y low calorie food - mine actually tells me NEVER to eat that stuff, not to waste my money on it. A lot of the stuff they do say you may know but what really helped for me was gaining more knowledge on planning, food portion sizes, adding more protein to my diet in non-meat forms (im a vegetarian) and a few exercise tips. Going to her every couple of weeks really helps keep me on track with my mechanical eating and makes sure I don't go off the rails. Also, if I do go off the rails eating wise (binge/purge etc) I can book an appointment at short notice and she gives me motivation to get back on track. Hope this helps!
