Hi,
I've successfully done 3 weeks. Up and down the hills of the shenandoah valley. I keep reading post of people that quit. So far I've been able to keep up but I will admit I don't run straight through those free form runs, are you supposed to? Ill mainly do intervals during the free form times. The hills in my neighborhood kill my endurance but they don't stop me just slow me down a bit.

I'm only two weeks into the 5k app, but no, I don't run straight through the free form runs. I think the idea is just to run if you are able to or if you feel like it, or otherwise, just walk. Intervals, like you're doing, seems to me to probably be the best bet.
I admit...I'm a little worried about quitting it myself. The whole "go from 30 seconds of running to 5 minutes of running" seems a little daunting to me. We'll see what happens.
It sounds like you are doing GREAT, though! Keep it up!!! :)
  • I've just graduated and tried to do the free forms as much as I could but struggled at first. The thing that helped most was to run v v slowly. Suddenly I went to struggling to finding it OK. Even if you run one and do intervals for the others.

I was scared about the end as the longest run was 20 mins. It's a great program though as on my final 5k I kept going for 50 mins! Trust in Sam and the doctor runner 5 ;)

Week 5 actually isn't nearly as scary as it looks. I was nervous about it, but for me, that was actually a fun week, because I didn't think I could run for 5 minutes until the app told me to just suck it up and give it a try. It became a pleasant surprise and a reminder that most of us are capable of a lot more than we think we are.

You can do this. I have complete faith in both of you.

You can do it. Today I completed week 8 day 2 & kept running after the app was done. I ended up doing 4miles & this is coming from someone that struggled w/60 seconds of running. Don't give up & just try each new week, if you have to repeat then repeat, but don't give up. You will be able to build your endurance & run for distances you never thought you could.
