Ontario produce

I'm trying to include more local, fresh produce in my diet. In most supermarkets, the produce aisles are full of Mexican bell peppers, Chilean apples, and Californian tomatoes. I'd much rather eat beautiful Ontario fruit and vegetables, even if it means paying a bit more to do so.
Anyone have any experience with CSAs or the Good Food Box program? Know of any markets that stock local produce as often as possible? Do you attend any farmers' markets in the downtown core (and/or easily accessible by transit)?

I don't have experience with CSAs, but Toronto has some excellent farmers markets. I'm in the Annex, so I tend to frequent the Borden farmers market. It's not the best, but it's convenient for me. You can check out this website: http://www.my-market.ca/index.html
Of course, there's always St. Lawrence Market, Brick works, and others that are evading me at the moment.
One of my neighbours gets a daily box of local organic produce from Mama Earth Organics. I think they deliver weekly and year round and there's a "local" option.
Hope this helps!!0 -
I love St. Lawrence market. Haven't used a CSAs though.0

Here's a link of the farmer's markets in the city, sorted by day of the week.

Our neighbours use Mother Earth. I often see the truck delivering their boxes.
If you want to pick your own, we go to a farm near the zoo. They have peppers, tomatoes, egg plants and berries and melons all pick your own. We went apple picking north of the city today...yum.0 -
There is also a really good farmer's market on Christie at the Wychwood Barns on Saturdays0
