Daily Challenge: 8/27/13

Hello all!!! Being under in calories is great and all, and yes it will help shed pounds; but if our goal is to create healthy lifestyle habits for a lifetime we also need to be exercising our bodies... So, here's our DC for today... If you go to the gym FANTASTIC, if you go for a walk GREAT... But... I want to challenge you further. When you sit down to watch your portion of TV today, EVERY TIME there are commercials on I want you to get up and move, until the commercials are OVER... You can jog in place, do squats/sit ups/push ups/jumping jacks/run in place/dance around, etc... Just MOVE! Track your time and log it! Boom!!! Extra calories burned. Booyah! Most importantly, remember to have FUN!

    teehee...I stream all my TV without commercials...but I watch it from my hamster wheel, so I think should count.

    Cool challenge - I am totally in!

    We have a back to school Ice Cream Social at the Elementary school tonight (I plan on bringing grapes to munch while my kiddos enjoy the ice cream)...so the gym may not happen. That said, burning while watching Double Divas is a great idea! LOL

    I was going to take a break from exercise today since I walked almost 4 miles yesterday, but because of this challenge, I'm going to use my dumbbells to work on my arms. They look awful and I usually try to do a bit on them most days, so I'm going to do extra today. Thanks!

    Nice one Alana :D Unfortunately I don't want any TV (at least not in a form where there would be commercials). Instead I'm going to push myself extra hard at the gym tonight and have made sure to do a bit of tidying and rushing about the house for a bit extra. Hope everyone does/did well (I never remember what our time difference is!) I'll try to remember to let you know how I get on but I must confess I've been a bit absent minded recently hehe.

    I like the idea of doing weight training during commercials, I figure I can do a few minutes of dumbells during commercials without passing out, lol!
  • Way to go Lou for making the choice to do it even when you didn't want to!! I did choose to do weight training and cardio bursts during commercials I logged it as circuit training and it burns some serious calories! I'm st 26 minutes during commercials but it is almost my early bed time so I figured I would log in now while the show was on! Extereme makeover weightloss edition!

    Did a long session at the gym tonight, that is the only tv I've watched. I'll call it a win. Now for the early bedtime I worked myself into. (had to force feed myself dinner tonight. Not hungry after that treadmill session - first foray to 3.4 mph.)

    @ Holly - So perfect to log during Extreme Weight Loss! I always learn a little something when I watch...even if I believe that slow and steady wins the race!

    @ dward - Wow! You are my new inspiration to go a little faster!
