Hi All.

I have my first class today. I have never done crossfit, so looking for new friends, but also advice. I have 35 lbs to lose, need to tone up real bad. Lost alot of weight in the past, so some loose skin, plus 2 pregnancies have left me kinda "loosey goosey".

Help, any advice would be greatly appreciated. What kind of results can I expect and how fast?

Congrats on joining! The workouts are definitely challenging, but you can scale them to whatever suits you best and you go up from there.

In terms of results, there are plenty of people who have seen awesome results in a few weeks time, while others take a little longer. It all depends on you hard you work, and how dialed in your diet is. Just one thing to remember is that it WILL happen. I've been doing it since before the new year and I have finally really started seeing definition in my body and weight coming off within the past few months once I adjusted my diet, although my clothes started fitting better within the first month of it.
You will find lots of support on here so don't be afraid to ask amd feel free to add me if you want.

    Congrats again and good luck!!

Congrats! You are going to love it. Be patient. The most important is making sure you are doing the movements correctly above all. Eat clean, drink lots of water, and try to workout 5 days....even if you are not CFing 5 days.

How long before the PM guys?

Welcome and good luck. I started cross-fit back in May 2013. It was when I started Paleo I started to really loose and that was on July 1st. Though for August there hasn't been much of a change but I am working hard still as I know I am getting stronger. Started the WOD with 10 lb bar, now I am up to 53 lb bar and can do 68 lb depending on what's in the workout.

It is rough but so worth it, I have never been so fully invested in a workout before, I actually don't want to miss my days unless it is absolutely necessary. Love cross-fit. I can see why people think its a cult...lol, oh well, still love love love it

I started CF July 1st. My diet is already about 98% paleo, although I tightened back up to that point when I started CF.

I lost a clothing size in the first month and a bunch of inches. This month, progress hasn't been as impressive, but I'm also working on eating my TDEE minus 10% so I don't pass out on the floor after every WOD. I'm getting stronger and more capable, so that's fun!

Really it depends on your definition of results. If you're a scale-rules-all person, you may not see what you're looking for. I'd advise taking measurements and pics to help with that!

Congrats. It is VERY hard at first but if you stick with it you will be surprised at how quickly you get used to it.

Use the class to evaluate your coaches. The focus should be on form and safety first, then time. ALWAYS. That is not always the case.

Also, they might look at you funny if you talk about "getting tone." There is no toning. There is only adding muscle and losing muscle. Get ready to start adding! :)

Good luck, look forward to your after-class report!

And I will second measurements and pictures. I have only lost about 10 lbs so far but I know I've lost fat and added muscle, so I'm fine with that.
