Victory Labr Day 5k/10k

Victory Labor Day 5k/10k

I highly recommend this event. Good price for a USATF certified course which is flat and PR friendly.

You can choose between the 5k and 10k. A free technical t-shirt is included with registration

Or if you are crazy like me there is an option to run both!

Next year! I'm in the early weeks of 5K to 10K training right now, but I'm just running my first 5K next Saturday. I've run/walked a bunch of them but have never run a full race. I'm in the Duluth area and we have 5Ks up here but not very many 10Ks, at least late in the season.

Good luck with doing both! Sounds fun.

Thanks for the tip. I'll think about it. I used to love such events, but I've been dealing with plantar fasciitis or maybe heel spurs for about six years now. (Initial diagnosis was PF, but a few years ago, an x-ray showed heel spurs.) Noticing your screen name, I thought I'd mention that I tried Vibram Five Finger shoes a couple of years ago, but my little toe would get numb. I recently started using Merrell Bareform shoes. The furthest I've gone is 1.25 miles just to ease into things, but maybe I could do a 5K by Labor Day. Good to have a goal!

Who else wants to join the party? So far I am aware of one other MFP member other than myself who will be there. Its a great warm up for the City of Lakes 25k the following weekend!

I plan on signing up Friday. I looked at last year's results and I will probably be one of the last people crossing the finish line. No big deal. I want to get my first 10k out of the way.

    How did it go?

It was a great race on a flat course! I highly recommend it (next year) for anyone who wants to set a 10k and/or 5k PR.

I completed the 10k in about 43 minutes and the 5k in just over 20 minutes. I am happy with both times as they are big improvements over my previous records and I have been running less than one year.
