Welcome to the no judgement group for those diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder (previously called Manic Depression) and their loved ones. This is about our journey toward healthy bodies and healthy minds. Lets support each other on this incredible journey we are all taking called life. Life while you happen to have bipolar disorder.
If you're a dual diagnosis individual, you are welcome here as well. In my experience, many bipolar patients have more than one "diagnosis."

I go by susanwondera, and I think I was diagnosed with Bipolar in September 1987. Thank you for starting the forum! One of my medications Zyprexa can promote weight gain and diabetes. I have some pre-diabetic changes so have some negative motivation to continue my weight loss.
How does one get the smileys into the post?0 -
I can TOTALLY relate to weight gain from meds. In addition to being over MANY meds over the years, I also have thyroid disease and my pituitary has an adenoma (non-cancerous) in it. So basically my metabolism stinks.
When they put me on Lithium about 13 years ago, I gained 70 lbs. just from that one med and I was on several others. I peaked at 302. I've worked hard: don't eat out much, no junk food, no sugar, no caffeine, making healthier choices and I'm down as of this post to 217. I've lost 5 lbs in the past week.
I hope this forum can help us who are on meds to encourage one another. Trust me, if I can do it with everything (the odds) stacked against me, I know we all can....TOGETHER! I don't have the net at home so I will update this forum as I can at work. Glad to have you aboard! Spread the word!0
