Questions Clarified....

A lot of people have been asking about honey, molasses, agave etc. for this challenge. The idea behind the challenge is cutting out refined and processed sugars for sure. But if we replace a 1/4 cup of white sugar in a recipe with a 1/4 cup of maple syrup, it's not really decreasing the sugar intake at all. my suggestion is to take steps that work for you! Maybe cutting out white sugar. Maybe cutting out white and brown (raw) sugar. Maybe ALL sugar.

But take the steps that work for YOU on YOUR journey. Not here to judge, just to help support you, whatever your reasons are for accepting the challenge and how you believe you can make it work for you.

Check out this short and simple article about how to replace refined sugars in the diet here: http://www.westonaprice.org/making-it-practical/replacing-refined-sugars

Please feel free to message me with questions, and my food diary is now open to the public so you all can see how a gluten free vegan also eats sugar free!!!

Loved the insight on the sugar subject but shivered several times on the encouragement of eating lard, only animal products were mentioned as protein and even lentils were lumped in with carbs and not mentioned as being high in protein. Obviously the author was not a vegan. :-/

I am definitely wanting to decrease my sugar intake and for me that is specifically corn syrup. My regular Pepsi is my only vise and I would really like to decrease my intake and eventually eliminate it from my diet. I haven't picked the best time since it is still very warm. The minute I am hot I want a Pepsi. So for the month of September my goal is to go from 7 a week to 3 a week. I know this is attainable and I dislike setting myself up for failure.

Thanks for the clarification and setting up this group :-)

Yes, there are some things in the article that I do NOT agree with, but some good pieces as well. I think you have found the right way to approach this challenge for you Kim!
