Where ya from?

I thought it would be fun to get an idea of where everyone is located (geographically speaking)...inspired by a post I saw with m23. If you are comfortable, tell us from where you hail.

I call the Pacific Northwest my home. I love the mild summers (I melt above 77 degrees F). I am fond of overcast, grey days - which is good because we get about 325 of those a year!!

So - where ya from?

I'm from Surrey, England. Typical weather here is hard to predict but we usually get a little bit of everything. We just had a 3 week or so heatwave (93 degrees F compared to the more common summer 60). I am not a fan of heat at all but having lived in Turkey for a year I was able to man up somewhat at least hehe. Probably the coolest thing about my town is that H. G. Wells wrote The War of the Worlds here so there's a MASSIVE tripod sitting in the street ^_^ I'll attempt to attach a picture but I'm not entirely sure how so sorry if it doesn't work :P

  • I am from manitoba Canada! It's not a very exciting place but it is our home for a least 14 more years lol we get cold winters and hot summers and lots of days that are just okay! We do have a lot of nature near by though which is nice if you want to give your car to a deer, even in the city occasionally, or you like things like bugs!

I was born and raised on the Canadian prairies, where the sky is big and the winters are evil, but moved to Vancouver Island five years ago where the sky is meaningless, but the winters are mild.. (I have not seen any snow on the ground now since January of 2012.)

Tough question. I was born and raised on the plains of eastern Colorado. In my adult life, I have lived and worked in 8 other states. I met my wife in Death Valley, CA, our kids were born in Phoenix, AZ, and we presently reside in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Where we will be in a few more years is almost anyone's guess!

Dward - I am from CO! The rest of my family is still there!
  • I was born in Puerto Rico... In case, no one has access to a map its a TINY island in the Caribbean that is also a US Territory. I live in Orlando, FL, actually grew up here practically ALL of my life. I moved to NJ about 4 years ago, where I met my fiancé; but HATED the cold and moved back "home" to FL a year later. So, I'm back in the heat and a mommy of a FANTASTIC 3-yr-old. :) I have a BA in Psychology with a minor in Sociology and I am currently working on my Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling... I know this wasn't supposed to be an intro about me, but I figured it would be good to know a little bit about the person that is moderating the group. If you have ANY questions feel free to ask. I'm pretty open, and whatever I don't want to answer I'll politely decline.

Wow! Great group of folks. I was born in Tampa, Florida and being an Air Force brat have lived in several locations, (all in the South), then we settled back in Tampa, Florida.
I love the Gulf beaches, amazing sunsets, and the warm winters. The summer is LONG and HOT, but we have A/C.

I am jealous of CC. My sister and brother live in WA state, (Snohomish and Lacey), that is where my heart lies. I visit as much as I can. My hubby can't handle the cold and our jobs are here.

I am blessed to live in the "Big Guava". I am happily married, two adult sons, a great job. Life is Good! We have loads of theme park action here, alligators, exceptional Cuban food. and most folks are very nice.

Traveling to cool places like Canada, Washington State, England, Australia, Wisconsin, and New Mexico is a huge motivation for me. it is more comfortable to fly, drive, take a train or ferry when I am the size I should be.

OK, cc, where at in CO if you want to tell? I have family along the front range (Fort Collins and Pueblo) and my mother and sister still live where I grew up, Limon. I get back a few times a year to visit while we are this close.

Alana, now I have to watch what I say. Hmm, if I use this wit, will Alana judge me as neurotic, psychotic, and worse, will she try to collect the rent on my air castle???? Now, PR is a great spot. I got to spend a week fixing the computers at the National Park Service site in San Juan back in 2000. Said I wanted to go back for a visit. My daughter liked what I said about the place, so she made it there for spring break last year. I still hope to as well one day.

btl - You have the last part right. I long for the day I won't dread getting on an airplane!

oXo - I love that dream. I'd like to live overseas for a while as well, if I can ever retire.
  • No dward... This is a judgement free zone... ;) at least that's what I'm hoping for from everyone, including myself

BTL - I am very close to your family here in WA!! It is beautiful!

dward - My BIL works in Pueblo! I was born in the CO Springs, my family lives near Fort Carson! I love it there too - I visit at least once a year (2 or 3 times if I can sneak it on top of a work trip)!

I had a feeling you were, but just in case I wanted to make sure... Although, I can be a pretty funny and sarcastic person... Without hearing the person speaking, or watching their body language, its hard to tell jokes (sarcasm) from words on a page, unless you personally know the person. lol

I've vacationed to the Green and White Mountains and have swam on the Cape in the oceans white with foam. On summer nights I yell Boston you're my home! Not found of humidity and after 2 feet of snow I'd consider that a blizzard.
People say we suck at driving, but I like to consider myself an exception. :)

Well, I just wanted to be specific. Now if there's a Baltimore, Maryland, United States, Earth in another solar system, I am right and royally screwed.

Eastern WA, here. Love it here, it's a lot less rainy than the other side of the state... However, it does get hotter in the summer.

Grew up down in southern CA, and my dad is Army so I've moved around a bit with my parents, but I have and always will call WA home.

Small world, too. CC, my parents live in Fountain, CO right now, as my dad is stationed at Fort Carson!
