PHOEBE, SERVANT OF THE CHURCH
I commend to your sister Phoebe, who is a servant of the church which is at Cenchrea; that you receive her in the Lord in a manner worthy of the saints, and that you help her in whatever matter she may have need of you; for she herself has also been a helper of many, and of myself as well. Romans 16:1-2
The apostle Paul singled Phoebe out as having been a great help both to the church at Cenchrea and to him personally. In bestowing this honor upon her, Paul showed to the ages the depth of Phoebe's Christian commitment.
Paul viewed dedicated people as living testimonies to all that God's Spirit could accomplish in one's character. Paul deeply appreciated those who walked in step with him to teach and nurture others in order to bring the Gospel message to many.
Paul also requested that other believers receive Phoebe "in a manner worthy of the saints." Obviously Christ within her shone out to others like a beacon of light to a needy world. And he asked that they assist her.
Some Bible translations also refer to her as a deaconess at the church Cenchrea. At any rate, she was no ordinary woman.
PRAYER----Lord, as a woman. let my life, as Phoebe's, shine before others.

Awesome Melanie. What a wonderful message. I love these devotionals. Keep them coming and if we both post one on the same day then more power and praise to the Lord.0
