Well the drop in tempurature in the UK at the moment is really playing havoc with my desire to train or eat healthily! Anyone else feeling the same?
I dread to think what I'll feel like 2 months from now!

Me too! The last thing I want to do after work when it's raining and cold is go for a run! I just want to lie on the sofa and eat great piles of mashed potatoes and casseroles!
Mind over matter, i'll just have to excercise first thing in the morning before i've had a chance to talk myself out of it!0 -
I am freezing. And very cranky.0
-
Massive cravings for stodgy pudding and custard!!0
-
I'm glad I'm not the only one.
I think my body wants me to eat my own weight in food and then hibernate! :frown:0 -
Yessssss I always want to hibernate during winter! This will be my first year without nomming down hot choc and biscuits through til March, who knows who I'll handle it lol x0

I've had to break out the running tights and long sleeve tops to go out for a run, and I've been soaked a couple of times in the last week which I'd managed to avoid for a while.
Still, such is life. If the climate was the same year round it'd get boring.0 -
So I've swapped the salad for soup and my excuse for not exercising has changed from 'its too hot' to ' it's too cold/wet/dark'
Unfortunately the fresh fruit that was so lovely when it was hot, has no autumn substitute unless you add crumble and custard.....
I can see that syrup sponge pud will have to be banned!0 -
Its not that cold yet... Just a few damp days... But I must admit my salad eating days will be rare from now on...0

I love autumn, not loving my cold or the fact that I've had to buy gear to keep the homemade wine warm so it can ferment.
Can't wait to get out in it when my lungs are clear and the soup making has commenced.......mmmmmm soup
Nothing beats a run in autumn....... oh perhaps a run in spring after the long, cold winter lol0 -

I'm with you on this! We'll be absolutely fine *she says, googling "healthy hot chocolate"*
I think there should be some kind of winter health and fitness support group!0 -

Agree with absolutely everything here! I've started the soup making already!
Mmmmm.....fruit crumble and custard.......!0 -
My gym class last night was very depleted in numbers: there were only around ten of us there and it's normally 20+. I felt very virtuous :-)0

Lifting weights is great when it's cold, I struggled so much in the summer so I'm glad for the change there. However I still need more beer garden weather! :grumble:0

Yes it has to be soup making this weekend!0

I've always noticed this Autumn hunger! Not just because I'm restricting calories this year. It must be some kind of hibernation instinct - load up and sleep the winter off. And it's not just because it's cold and I want hot food, or because during the summer I wanted to eat lighter - it's a definite Hunger that wells up about now, every year.0

I just posted on my news feed today about how frickin cold I am feeling right now. I wasn't sure if it was due to the temp drop or the fact that I have lost a fair bit of blubber since last sept, Whatever it is, I am not happy about it LOL Apparently we have an indian summer coming though....
I already have the heating on and the electric blanket is on the bed!0 -

That would make sense...I've started bagging up shorts & summer dresses to put in storage and switched over to winter duvets...in Britsh weather logic, that means we're due a heatwave!
Like when lighting a barbecue is the equivalent of doing a rain dance!!:laugh:0 -

I aways felt the cold, but it's definitely been worse this year! 2 and a bit stone of fat must have been great insulation!0 -

Well, the good news is, you can make hot chocolate with milk substitutes - my vegan sister used to make it lots. Soya milk* isn't good apparently, it splits, but you can use other milk substitutes like rice milk or oatley (not sure of the calories mind but apparently almond milk is lowest?) and if you chuck out all the hot-chocolate powder and buy some very black dark chocolate (min 75% cocoa solids, pref higher) and melt some of it into a little hot water before adding the milk, you're in control of the calories and the fat! And you can sugar to taste (and/or add other flavourings like some orange zest, mint, cinnamon etc)
*ETA although low cal, worth at try at least?0 -
It's that in between time when all the winter food is a bit heavy/stodgy but summer salads don't hit the right spot. Soups a great filler. This week, courgette and watercress. Next week got curried butternut squash and sweetcorn to make. Off to Northumberland, visiting Alnwick and Lindisfarne (Holy Island) Need soup for that trip!0
