Hello ..

Nothing beats a failure but a try.....I have been lurking (intermittently) here on these message boards every now and again. I feel like Nina from "Love Jones" in the final scene , displaying something so personal in a public forum, but it needs to be done! Hello I am Bgirl72- 41 and ready for the first time in her life to be a big ole loser......yea I said it ( only in weight and a negative self image)

I wish I could say that, "I have done everything...tried every diet" but I haven't. I have ,however, dropped the ball so many times I can't even count.....

This time is new, this time is full of possibility...this time I win.

My strategy.....
be accountable to some folk that I don't know (posting here, and blogging)
STAYING CONSISTENT
getting back up even when I have "fallen"
not quitting even it the scale doesn't move
not quitting when I hit plateaus
drinking water.....

I feel so inspired by what I have seen here on the message boards and BWLW, it seems like such a safe place to do something so personal.....

I pledge to post regularly.....please I encourage and welcome you encourage me

    Hi!!

I'm LaLa :), I noticed we have similar weight loss goals and I'd love take on this journey with someone else.

I've been slowly changing my lifestyle for the 7 weeks or so. At first I did little things, like cutting lunch and dinner out, or limiting cocktails to once a week, or dropping red meat (sigh). Now adding in some vegan/vegetarian days, juicing, walking a couple miles a day and working in additional workouts like strength training and dancing. I still have "bad" days (see Friday's diary) but that doesn't mean I fly off of the wagon. I pay attention to how my body reacts to different food and have been doing much of research on calorie/ macro nutrient intake (lots of good but confusing internet info out there, but I also chat with with my friend who is a nutritionist).

Many gals have commented on this board not being active, I've noticed the same but it won't change unless we post, so here I am. Committed.

    Hi Bgirl72!

I can completely relate to the "trying (and failing on my part) a little bit of everything".
For years, I carried a lot of extra weight. I tried losing and ended up gaining. At my highest, I was nearly 300lbs.

In 2002, I finally started making some changes in my lifestyle and eating. Over the course of a year, I started eating lower amounts of carbs, counting calories, and started walking. Pretty soon, I'd dropped 5lbs here, 10lbs there. My kids were the biggest inspiration and motivators for me. Eventually I lost over 150lbs and managed to keep the weight off for over 8 years. Then stress, complacency, and bad habits started creeping back in. I've gained about 40lbs back and I'm here on MFP to get that weight off again before I'm at 300lbs again.

Unfortunately, I'm nearly a decade older and the weight is coming off a lot slower and the work is a lot harder this time.

You CAN do this. WE can do this.
    What helps me is to:
    1. Post regularly to get and give encouragement.
    2. List your goals and POST THEM AT HOME. I have a weight chart, weekly goals, and weekly workout schedule posted on the wall by my desk, so I see it very clearly (and so does the rest of my family). It is harder to ignore when its "in your face".
    3. Use a big red marker to mark off each of the workouts on your schedule. I love seeing the paper go from white to red as the month progresses. It shows me how much I worked (or didn't work).
    4. Water, water, water, and when you're about to float away....more water! I'm horrible about drinking water, but I notice better results when I drink 80oz or more of plain water per day.

    Hang in there and welcome!
