I just got back from the Diaghilev exhibit in Washington DC. It's an amazing display, that showed a lot of original costumes and drops from the early Ballet Russe plus artwork inspired by them... and showed many snippets of choreography. I hadn't seen The Prodigal Son for years and the clip they were showing, Balanchine's ballet for Baryshnikov was pretty thrilling-to see a biblical story told through dance. So I'm wondering how you all feel about religious themes in performing arts?
