Basically just my lunches are carb heavy. All other meals are low carb as in 20g or less.0

I am low carb through noon under 40g and evenings are more carb heavy because of blood sugar issues......0

I tend to have three meals with no snacks planned for my day. Will grab a defined number of flash carbs if I have IOB issue with a low. I aim for 20-30gm protein, 5-10 gm fiber, and around 40-50 gm net carbs per meal. Breakfast 7ish, lunch 12 noonish and dinner by 6 Pm and bolus appropriately for each meal.
I prefer not to have active bolus or food digesting before my next meal or at bedtime since it can confuse the issue. My basal is worked out well and what I see at bedtime is what I will get in AM if I follow my usual pattern. My I:C ratio is flat if I eat within that time frame, if I have dinner later than 6-7 pm then I will need a lower I:C ratio. If I eat later it usually involves a night out with higher amounts of fat as well as high GI foods and alcohol which mess with the timing of you bolus insulin vs food. A little more challenging but it can still be worked in.
My fitbit pegs my TDEE at about 1800 calories a day so I aim for around 1600 to allow for the usual over under in activity and portions --life happens!
If I can continue to keep my A1C in the 5's with only occasionally going below 65-70 ----down from 11.0 at DX then I'm happy but it does take work.0 -
I wasn't having any success at losing lbs. until a year ago when I made a 3 month commitment to cut out all dairy and animal products. 35 lbs later...and still eating this way. I won't say "vegan", that gets a little political, but "plant-based". Worked for me, everyone is different.0

Hmmm, i wonder if that would work for me? I lost weight easily before i became pregnant. But now im 22months post preg. I had 70lbs to lose. I've lost 60lbs. About 30lbs in a week and then another 30 in 3 months. Nothing for a year and a half. Maybe this winter i will drop it or at least look like i did cuz i am lifting heavy now for the first time in my life.0 -
Hi there,
My dietician put me on the plan below. In the 2 years that I struggled with weight loss on my own before seeing her, I lost 9 pounds. In the 6 weeks since she gave me this food plan, I've dropped 10 pounds! I am 5'7" and started at 158lbs. I am now down to 139lbs.
1500 cals/day - no eating back exercise calories
3 meals, no snacks unless I'm really hungry
30 carbs/meal
15 carbs/snack (must include protein)
84 grams protein minimum for the day
150 carbs max for the day
Must eat veggies with lunch and dinner
Lots of water
My diary is public, so feel free to take a look at what I'm eating to stick to this plan. Hope this helps!0 -

That is a very good meal plan. Everyone needs different amounts. Looks like she put you at 40% of your calories from carbs-good number. We never recommend less than that for percentages of calories from carbs. if you want to calculate out a meal plan at 40% calories from carb to start with use your goal calorie amount and multiply by 0.40. Divide this number by 4 to get grams carb and this number by 15 to get carb servings a day. Divide that number up into your daily meals and snack, but be sure to always eat at least 3 meals a day to prevent low blood sugars.0 -
I used to eat a lot of yogurt and recently cut most of it out - it is so high in sugar for how little food you are eating. And I'm a plain yogurt eater - the fruit flavors are even worse.0
