Over did it, now what?

Ok, so I over did things yesterday. I didn't feel bad while I was exercising and doing all that housework. I just want to eat and sleep now, everything hurts. Should I jump back in and just try to keep going? Or should I not exercise today (I only do Walk Away the Pounds videos usually, am thinking of trying a workout from Fitness magazine)?

Are you able to do stretching or yoga exercises? If so, maybe go with that. When I feel really sore, I just do either stretching or yoga, and it really does help. Otherwise, taking a rest day is good too...or doing slower pace walking.
  • Thanks, I have a yoga video. But have found it difficult to do. I may try it again. And I may just do a one mile walk instead of five.

you're very welcome. What I do love about yoga....as long as you just do your best, there will be improvement. So, don't worry about stretching or bending as far as the instructor...just do as far as you can go. Each time gets better, and you will notice your body able to do more and more. =)
  • Thanks, the "beginner" yoga video I have has you doing a plank pose in the first video! So, anyway, I decided to try the second video and found it to be much easier. I did it yesterday and today and hope to continue to do it daily. Eventually I may be strong enough to do a plank.

Personally I take it one day at a time and try to do at least the minimum of "exercise". I have a 6 and 3 year old so my minimum is keeping them safe, healthy, and happy (can be a challenge some days lol). I've found stretching and yoga to be great, and as someone already said - you do not need to go as far into the poses as the instructor.

I have found that Tai Chi is good for the days when the pain is too bad for other exercise. It can be done smooth and slowly and does not require the mobility that yoga does. The big thing is not over do things on the good days because it will catch up with you later.
