Thought I'd post this since it seems that lots of us will be being all we can be this weekend.

The format for the Subject line will put this thread in a sortable list if MFP EVER changes to a forum instead of an email list (grumble, grumble but not really)

I'm running a half marathon at the Long Beach International Marathon and my goal is to break 2 hours. I don't have my bib number yet but I'll jump on the first pace group that's over 2 hours.

[edit]
Here's the elevation profile of the Half this Sunday:

Promise, there is a hill. Well, sort of a hill! :-)

Goal time is somewhere between 3:05 and 3:10.

Dang! That course just screams for a PR. Is it twisty or pretty straight?

I've got a half marathon 10/26. www.peoriaaz.gov/NewSecondary.aspx?id=62041. Course info at www.usatf.org/routes/view.asp?rID=501115. I'm thinking 1:45 for my time. Packet pickup is morning of, no bib # yet. I'll let you know how it goes

The Showdown Half in Fairview, TX. Bib #621.
Saturday is the Texas v OU (Oklahoma not Ohio for you Northerners) so the Bibs are either Burnt Orange (awesome) or Red (not awesome). Should be fun.

I was hoping for a new PR around 2:08 - 2:10 but I think the weather might be working against me. Morning temps are going to be in the 70s and very humid. :(

    Just a little elevation change.

    Staten Island Half Marathon 10/13

Bib: _______- haven't picked it up yet.

I am building this into a longer 20 mile training run so I am just hoping to keep it steady at MGP+:30-:45 (AKA slow! :blushing: )

Not sure how to categorize it:

    https://maps.google.com/maps/msmsid=202841325778379051329.0004cfba10ddcbda11292&msa=0&ll=33.777677,-118.116143&spn=0.003676,0.005016&dg=feature

We're going through a "winter storm" at the moment (it's 56º now with a high of 64º) but Sunday's early AM temp will be 56º.

PR? I'll have a much better idea about this time on Sunday morning! ;-)

This weekend, all I've got is an 8 mile taper training run.
On 10/20, I've got the Humboldt Redwoods Marathon. It runs along the "Avenue of the Giants" - I'm so excited to run under a canopy of gigantic redwoods - http://www.redwoodsmarathon.org/course/. I probably won't know my bib# until the morning of.

If I can finish somewhere around 4:20~4:25, I'd be stoked. If it takes me longer, I'll still be stoked. I just did a full on 9/29 and a half on 10/6, so I'm really just doing this for fun with no real time expectations in mind.

Good luck to everyone running this weekend!

Super jealous, I really want to run that race next year.

Sounds like an amzaing marathon! I am going to have to add it to my list! If I get my wish, it will be a semi-local race for me!

I've got the B.A.A. half marathon in Boston this Sunday, October 13th. I'm also trying to finally break 2 hours. The course isn't dead flat, but flatter than my last one and the hills are certainly easier than the ones I've been running up with the jogging stroller two times a week for the last 2 months.

    Good luck everyone!

I am running the Freedom's Run Half in Shepherdstown, WV. They had to reroute the course out of national parkland. Supposedly there are some good sized hills so I am not expecting a PR. I broke 2 hours in May and don't expect it for this one.

I'm supposed to be running the Boo! Run for Life 10K this Sunday, but the government shutdown will most likely cause it to be canceled since it's in a park maintained by the National Parks Service...

This thread makes me sad. All I have this month is a Halloween Sock Hop 5K my local running club is hosting on the 27th. Was supposed to have a FM on Sunday but it got cancelled due to a blizzard. Ugh

All I have this month is the Westmonster Woods 5 KM on October 26. Pretty flat, half trail and half road. I'm going to use it as practice for my November 16 5 KM at the Winter Running Festival in Guelph - mostly through farm fields uggh. I'm hoping to crack 23 minutes at the Halloween race. I'll be going all out and trying to break 22 at the November race.

10.13.13 - Dayton River Corridor Half Marathon
10.20.13 - Columbus Marathon * my 5th marathon, but 1st since 2008. And my first where I'm not considered a Clydesdale."

On Sunday 13th October, I am running the Great West Run in Exeter UK. Bib number 1760. It is an Urban and rural route and quite hilly, even so I expect a new PR for a half marathon because I think I am much fitter than I was last June when I ran a 2:28 half.

All I got this month is a 5k -- the Runway 5k in Charlotte October 26th. Should be a cool race, though -- you literally run on a runway at the Charlotte airport. Hoping to PR but it looks like the course might be a little long, so it could be tough!

Isn'i the "hill" in the long Beach half just a bridge?

    "just a bridge" - it's a veritable mountain!

    :-)

Yes, I suspect that's a bridge and I'll have a better idea when I scout the course on Saturday.

    That's a neat idea - running on a runway!

I am new to distance running! I'm running the Rock n Roll Brooklyn 10k tomorrow - it will be my longest distance so far. I'm contemplating training towards a half that will take place in early December. I have a program that seems reasonable, but I'm worried about over training.

wow, look at all these races!!

Hartford (CT, USA) Half tomorrow (9/12)! I will run a PR, because it's my first half. :o)

Kind of a twisty route, with typical New England up and downs: http://www.hartfordmarathon.com/Assets/Hartford+Marathon/Maps+-+Mararthon/Map_2013HM_Half0828.pdf

Anything under 2 hours will be fine, breaking 1:50 would a dynamite result.

I'm running a 10-mile race at the Atlanta Marathon on 10/27. It's the last 10-miles of the marathon course and since it is Atlanta, you can count on lots of hills. This will be my longest race yet and I am hoping to finish at or under 90 minutes.

Running Anthem Wicked 10k at Virginia Beach in two weeks. Don't there will be much elevation change as it is mainly along the beach and on the boardwalk, but I am super excited! I am not really shooting for a PR. This will be my first real race since the foot and the knee injury stuff over the summer.

I have a Snow White running costume (complete with a tutu) and I spray painted an old pair of running shoes red with glitter! And even better, the husband is running it with me! Of course he refuses to wear a costume. Oh well, I win some, some I lose!
