Alternative to rows?

Hi ladies,
I am coming up on my 6 month 5x5 anniversary and I need some advice. I really, really, hate Pendlay rows. Almost enough to find another program, which I don't want to do, since I love all the other lifts.
Can anyone recommend another lift that works about the same muscles? One of my goals is to get to 10 unassisted pull ups. What do you think about dropping the rows to work on that goal?

Try power cleans. It may take a while to learn how to do them, but they are a lot of fun.
This is from SSBBT3
"First, barbell rows are not a substitute for power cleans. If you use them for this purpose, you have
decided to omit a more important exercise in favor of an assistance exercise, an easier movement that does not
provide most of the benefits of the more important basic exercise. I say this because of the prevalence of this
substitution since the second edition of this book was published. Power cleans are one of the primary constituents
of the program, and barbell rows – useful as they may be to intermediate lifters – are not."0 -
Yes, I'm trying to work up the courage to do PCs. I think they will be a lot more fun too!0

I hate Pendlays too so I don't do them! I do Bent Over Back Rows instead.0

Funny. The rows are my favorite so far.0

Thanks to all of you! I will certainly check out power cleans. I have watched a few videos and they intimidated the heck out of me, but they do look fun. I'll look at the bent over back rows as well.0

I do Inverted Rows, just because doing barbell or Pendlay rows seemed too hard to master the form when I started. Now I have a goal to do 3 sets of 10 Inverted Rows perfectly. They will probably help you on hitting your chin up goal too.

When I got to that point I started doing bent over rows instead, pulling from the bottom pin on my rack.0
