Hello all! I have been an active MFP member since January of this year and am 15 weeks pregnant today. After losing 56 lbs (about 1/3 of my goal), I am just looking to maintain my current weight throughout this pregnancy. I need to keep monitoring my diet because of GD, but I've found that I am losing my motivation since weight loss is not my goal. :(

Welcome & congrats! How are you coping with your GD? I'm 33 weeks and was diagnosed nearly 4 weeks ago. So far--with the guidance of a nutritionist and nurse--I've managed to keep it under control exclusively with food and have stopped gaining weight!

Have you been feeling well enough to walk or do other exercise?

Good luck to you! Feel free to add or message me if you need support!

im in the same boat and without a goal to lose weight I find I flounder a lot more. Plus, the general pregnancy hunger brain can get me. I'm about 28weeks now. hypertensive and possible GD

    Thanks for the support!

lisapr123-So far, so good with the GD. I had some testing supplies left over from my first pregnancy and was able to go into my nutritionist meeting with about a week's worth of numbers. They are more than willing to let me control it with diet as long as possible. I also like that they are very much about me learning my body. Instead of getting concerned about a number out of range, they make sure I can identify the cause and extract a promise that I'll avoid that trigger food. I'd like to continue diet managed throughout if possible. What do you think has helped you be so successful?

ldrosophilia, I also have pregnancy induced hypertension. Getting that under control is a big focus at this point. It caused SO many problems my first pregnancy. It is like my body freaks out as soon as the pregnancy hormones hit. I guess I've been "lucky" (!?!?!?!?!?!?) and have pretty much avoided pregnancy hunger brain. I had pretty bad MS first trimester and it hasn't left yet. :(

Much like you, they're letting me see what foods trigger high sugars. So far, the only thing that triggered was a 100 calorie snack pack of chocolate covered pretzels with my lunch. I've worked in pumpkin cheesecake on our wedding anniversary dinner and a daily treat of dark chocolate. I'm following the 30 carbs at breakfast, 15-30 for snacks, 30-45 for lunch and dinner. Honestly, I tend to stay on the lower numbers as I'm not a huge carb eater to begin with (the carbs I do like are cakes & cookies, not pasta & bread). I think the hardest part initially was giving up most fruit, but I keep telling myself it's short term! When I do eat a higher carb meal I try to go for a brisk walk or jump on my spin bike for 15 minutes. And I haven't eaten a carb by itself in a month now, always pairing it with nuts or cheese or something. Good luck to you!!
