WWYD Training Question

Training for the Silver Strand half November 17th.
Decision time... I have been running my weeks for training Sun-Friday. Just tended to work for my hectic life of transporting 3 kids to 4 different club sport practices and events.
Mid length run on Sunday, hills on Tuesday, short run Wednesday, long run Friday. Sitting around 24 miles per week. This week that long run is a 10 miler. On Sunday there is a 10 mile race at the beach (Surf City 10 miler). The idea of running my 10 miler on the beach with crowd support sounds so nice as I sit here. So I am now trying to figure out how to enter and run that race and not mess up my training....
This week is a 6, 5, 3 and 10. I have already done the 6 (Sunday). Original plan was to run the 10 from home to my son's soccer practice. It is a net downhill route and the half marathon is flat (this training route worked well for Mountains to Beach but not sure about Silver Strand which is a flat course).
Next week is a 6, 4, 3, 12. My so I have the option to run the 10 on my own on Thursday and then do the 6 at the beach...there is a10K race the same day. Hubby is running in the 10K. There is only a $5 difference between races.

I'd run the 10 mile race. You still have plenty of time between now and your race that you aren't going to mess anything up (and I don't see how you would anyway). But mostly it just sounds like fun.0

I would run the 10 miler. I don't see how swapping some days around will make too much of a difference for a week.0

You will be fine, there is plenty of time between races if you decide to do Surf City. For me not wanting to drive to/from Huntington would be the deciding factor. My wife has a rule I am not allowed to spend longer traveling to a race than it will take to complete the race. Any race with "marathon" somewhere in the title is exempt from this rule.
*Edit* Run with your husband, maintaining domestic tranquility trumps beach and crowd support.0 -
Thanks all...I committed to the 10 miler. And of course the morning after I submit the weather goes from awesome in the morning to completely socked in with fog. Oh well, we are getting a date night out of it since MIL has to keep the kids overnight so we can get to the starting line on time.
David...I am in South Orange County so the drive isn't that bad. Plus my skeleton in my classroom needs another surfboard metal :-)0
