On rare occasions my wife and I take one and split it. Mostly WW SmartOnes or Lean Cuisine.

Hate the sodium levels, and often a bit light on protein.

I really don't eat them much since my WLS Sleeve. For one they are loaded with sodium and the protein levels in them isn't very good. I can only eat about 1/4 to 1/2 of them also.

Really don't like frozen meals. Expense is the biggest issue, but also the amount of sodium and the low amts of protein are a deterrent for me. I prefer to make my own frozen meals with either leftovers or intentionally, like a big batch of chili or soup. I also make up fajita meat with the seasonings and peppers and onions, then freeze in individual serve portions that I only have to reheat and serve on a tortilla.

Wow... what are some quick ways to bring lunch to work? I seriously have a time crunch issue, single mom of two and don't cook every night...Frozen chicken strips and veggies? soups?

Take some time on the weekends and make up meals that you can freeze. That way everything is portioned and ready to go. I usually spend a few hours first thing on Saturday morning and get the week ready. I too struggle with the frozen food issue as I live alone and cooking for one always leads to way too many leftovers that I get bored with; HOWEVER, the scale does not move when I eat processed foods.
Good luck - you will find a solutions that works for you.

I'm a single mom of one and I don't cook every night either but I tend to cook in large batches and then eat the leftovers several times either for lunch or dinner through the week. I cook up a couple pounds of ground beef and make taco meat that my daughter eats on tacos and I use for low-carb taco salads. I do crockpot buffalo chicken breasts and we eat those either on low-carb wraps with ranch dressing and a little lettuce or just dipped in a little ranch dressing. I also fix large batches of chili and chicken tortilla soup and freeze in individual serving sizes. On the weekend I'll grill up hamburgers, turkey sausages (pepper jack is my favorite), and hotdogs (for my daughter).
We tend to eat the same things several times a week and I will just throw some veggies in the microwave for a quick side and sometimes add a starch for my daughter.
  • My nut recommended WW SmartOnes, but I don't like the high amount of carbs and sodium in them. I try to avoid them, but in a pinch I will eat them. My husband does the cooking because I can't stand very long and our kitchen is too small for a chair. He sleeps during the day, though, and I do get hungry when he's sleeping. So, I have ate the WW or Lean Cuisine meals as they are easy for me to cook. I prefer the Starkist ready-made pouches of Tuna Salad, but sometimes like something warm.

My husband works 3rd shift, so usually does the cooking during the week. He's good about making sure it's high protein/low calorie and I use any leftovers for lunches. I also cook a big pot of soup/chilli and portion it out for lunches at work. In a pinch I open a can of tuna or chicken, mix with a small portion of creamy, low calorie salad dressing or the like and either eat it alone or as the topping on a salad. Left over grilled chicken is chopped onto a salad, I always weigh out 4 ounces to insure the protein level. I never buy or eat the frozen stuff anymore for the same reason everyone else is giving here. Way too much sodium and way too low on protein.
  • In a pinch I will buy the Atkins frozen meals so I know I am getting high protein/low carb. Otherwise my go-to lunch is my own home-made soups or chili. I will make a huge pot for a weekend meal and then portion out single servings and freeze them. I also will cook up a batch of taco meat and bring in all the fixings to work and make taco salads. It's also helpful for me to have a mix of protein snacks on hand like sliced turkey, string cheese, nuts, and cottage cheese.

I know you said you generally don't cook, but you may want to start cooking more to be successful. I have found that my weight loss is slowest when I eat too many pre-packaged, processed foods.
