First Spartan Sprint done

So for those just considering one or maybe you've committed to doing one - here are some things I learned on my first Spartan Sprint...
I've done quite a few local/regional mud/extreme/obstacle runs, one half-marathon and a pile of shorter races. Spartan puts on a great race - they even make it fun for the spectators as a pile of the challenges were all arranged in one area so those watching could see a lot. They were efficient, and their challenges were well built and certainly involved some serious work for the racers. They race does get expensive - parking, bag check, etc etc etc but it's probably a worth-while cost if you enjoy these kind of challenges.
Running/cardio endurance is important of course - if you're sucking when you get to each challenge you are already behind the 8-ball. However, upper body strength and flexibility is just as important - you end up pulling yourself over, under and through many different situations. One thing I would recommend you certainly should work on as focused training is body-weight work - specifically rope climbs, pull-ups etc. There is no substitute for pulling your a body up a rope than doing climbing!
Most important - just enjoy - and if you can make the friends join you - certainly do so - running as a team is the best way to really enjoy yourself!

Congrats on your first Spartan. What races are you planning in order to complete your Trifecta?
Excellent observations as well. If you don't train for both the trail running and all the upper body work you will definitely feel it at a Spartan.0
