I'm joining the cool kids this Thursday morning at 8am. I'm nervous/excited for my new beginning. Did anyone else feel surreal in the days leading up to surgery? I've been heavy my whole life and I'm having trouble believing that I'll be "normal" someday soon! I keep telling myself "this is REALLY happening!"

Hi There!!
I was sleeved in Jan 2013. I was an absolute mass of nervousness and anxiety leading up to the last few days before surgery. But it all worked out great. You will do great too!!
It is a wonderful tool and it has changed my life in ways I never would have believed.
Let me know if you have any questions...more than happy to share my story.
Yay you!!
See you on the flip side!!

It's been 2 and 1/2 years now and I still remember being so excited to get the surgery done and get on with my new life! Like Suzee said, it's a great tool and I can honestly say it's the best thing I have ever done for myself!
Good luck with everything!0 -
I am happy for you as you embark on this journey! I can't say that I was nervous or scared pre-surgery, I mostly remember being at peace because I knew I had made the right decision towards getting healthy, and I was SO ready for the process to begin. I was sleeved November 19th 2012. While the journey hasn't always been easy, I am in this for the long haul, and however long it takes, I'm in it. Best of luck to you!0

I was sleeved on 10/09/13. I before the surgery I was both super nervous and excited. I went through 10 months of the pre-surgery process and I was so ready! After the surgery was when it seemed surreal to me, but in a good way. I feel completely back to normal now and I am so glad I did this!0

I had my sleeve done 18 months ago. I have lost nearly 11 stones and am now maintaining over the winter before losing my last 7lbs in the spring. I had my last meeting with my team last week when I said that my only aim going into this was to become a normal healthy person. It was a fab moment when she said, 'you are'!!
It takes a while to get used to how life changing all this is. I still reach for clothes at least 2 sizes too big because thats what I feel I am. Its a lovely new wold if not a bit strange!!0 -
I wasn't excited at the time, because it was such a fight to meet my deadline. But it's so very exciting now to hear whenever someone's ready to do this, knowing what a wonderful change they're about to discover. Congratulations!0

It's absolutely normal to be nervous at this point. I considered not showing up the morning of surgery! Thank goodness I did. Best of luck to you on Thursday!0

My surgery is on the 5th also and I'm totally there with you about the nerves and anxiety. I keep thinking that the sleeve is so permanent and wondering if I really want to surgically change my body that way.
BUT, I know with absolute certainty that this surgery is going to allow me to have the life I have dreamed about for so long - to walk without pain; to stop worrying about taking my blood pressure, diabetes, depression, and asthma medicine every day; to get off that damn c-pap machine; to live long enough to see my grandchildren be born.
You and I are going to be fine!0 -
What time is your surgery? I'm going in at 8:00, checking in at 6:00. It's nearly here!0

That is about the time i would be going for mine. Right now I am meeting with the doctors, nutritionists, etc..
I'm very nervous and excited at the same time.
