Winter Series - Rule #9 Commuter Challenge

Sorry I was late getting this one in place - this is a 3 month "mini-challenge" within the Winter Series Omnium - designed for the tough as nails commuters out there, battling to work on the bike in whatever the conditions throw at them.
Challenge is simple - Log your commutes, GPS and distance in km's. Add up a total each month Dec/Jan/Feb. and gain 1 point for every 50km ridden. Simples.
Rides that are submitted for the Base Miles challenge or any other challenges are not eligeable (so you can't do a 3 hour commute with detours and a loop that make it 55km, and submit it in the cross, commute and base challenges. Pick one challenge and post it there.)
December commuter rides can be back-dated if you have the GPS links.
Ride Safe Folks, and whatever you do, be careful out there...
ETA: Entries thread will open very soon now:

This is pretty much what I tend to do, integrate longer rides into the daily commute but I'll keep them registered in the base miler as that covers weekenders too.0

well, for the shorter ones (anything under 50km) stick 'em in here mate...
Idea is that somewhere along the line we've most rides covered, so anyone can score some points
Indoors rides, long base rides, commutes or short one hour mid-day joyrides....
it's all about getting people out there in the "off season" and doing a little more than they may otherwise do...0 -
So the points are added for total KM's (in 50km segments) & not individual rides?
If so, yay! I may score points on this challenge!Example of Logging... (nicked from Cloggsy71's entry on the "base builder")

Ah ha got ya, ok sounds good, now every mile counts!0

Aha this one's for me! I'm in! :happy:0

Yay - I'm in - and notching up my first few kms of December today on the commute :-) Although that'll be it for this week thanks to life getting in the way (band commitments - seems everyone wants a brass band at Christmas haha!!) - next week not looking great either then I'm off till 6th Jan! But THEN, I'm all over it :laugh:0

Nice - something I might do well at. How about extra points for true rule #9 days?
So when I stretch the commute for fun (see 95% of my weekday rides) does that count? Not like I'm stretching them to 55km loop hour plus rides or anything though, just an extra mile or two at each end. Just curious.0 -

Stretching the commute is fine - if you want to make it 100km each way, it's fine by me, all I was getting at is, if it's over 50km for a single ride, post it either in this challenge OR the base builder challenge, BUT NOT BOTH. In all honesty, this one's probably a better place for any distance that you do as a commute (stretched or otherwise) because in the base builder any distance over 50km that isn't over 100km doesn't count. In here, every meter travelled counts towards the total if it's logged and GPS'ed.0 -

hey - it's not too bad - I know the example came in at 1 point, but it's actually 1.6 points - with the regular commute it's 2 points for every 5 full days ridden... 2 points a week's more than I've been scoring in the base mileage builder, and some of us don't have a commute (well - riding the bike up to the spare bedroom/office wouldn't get me much distance, would it...)0 -

That's what I figured. Thanks!0
