Post-op Exercise

I had surgery 12/5, a week ago tomorrow. I've been doing laps around my kitchen/living room but haven't ventured out much aside from a trip to the grocery store the other night & this morning. My question is when did you guys start really walking after surgery? Did you take it easy for 2 weeks? Did you start 1/2-1 mi jaunts right away? Any advice is appreciated. I know I can't be lifting anything but otherwise my paperwork doesn't say much about exercise and how often, etc.
Thanks!
Thanks!

I was walking outside the day I came home. Not super long walks at first, maybe a couple of blocks, then I built up from there. My surgeon told me that after 4 weeks I could do whatever exercise I wanted, so I started doing the elliptical, however, his PA told me I should probably wait till 3 months to start doing any strength training. Hope that helps!0

I was cleared to do cardio around 2 weeks and was back in the gym around week 3. No weights until after 6 weeks, but then I resumed the lifting I was doing prior to surgery.
Follow your surgeon's recommendations, but don't feel like you can't do anything. My surgeon's program recommended at least 30 minutes of activity daily once cleared for non-weight lifting activity.0 -
Walking outside from day one, in gym (incline treadmill and upper body weights) at four weeks. No core muscles until 8 weeks. Everyone is different, every surgery has it's own healing rate. This worked for me and was encouraged by my surgeon and general Dr.0
