Weighing In

How often do you weigh yourself? I am just 9 weeks post surgery, and so far I have only been weighed when I go to the doctor, which was after two weeks and six weeks. I go again January 3rd, and I plan to wait until then to check my weight again. I like to be weighed on the same scale every time, but I also feel like if I start weighing myself at home, I will get a little scale obsessed like I have before. I can tell I am losing but I am just not super worried about the numbers right now. What about you?

You need to do what feels comfortable to you. I tend to weigh myself every morning as a way to learn how my body is reacting. If you do that you need to be prepared for stalls, gains, fluid retentions ect. The loss will never be smooth but over time they are significant.

My surgeon and his team said once a week max. Truthfully I tend to weigh myself more like daily now. At 2 and 1/2 years out the weight loss is really slow now and I can go weeks losing and regaining the same 2-3 pounds before I will get a real 1 or 2 pound loss. So I watch it closly. If you get obsessive or it becomes really stressful on a daily or weekly basis, weigh yourself less. It's really up to you.
  • I weigh once a week. I asked my psychologist since she knows me well :). Basically if you know you will get obsessive or not seeing a number that meets your expectation will be a negative feeling then it prob best to limit. I must admit I sometimes peek 2xweek cuz I'm just soo curious! The tricky part is I can be the type to let it get me down. The good part is that I find as time goes on, I handle things better. I tell myself " it's ok, I'm making the right choices, exercising, and I'm sticking to it".

Weighing daily would seem hard bcuz there is so many fluctuations , water weight etc.... But I could see myself weighing daily. Once I reach my goal weight! Just to keep me on check ! ;)

I am 18 weeks out and I weigh myself every morning. I like to see the numbers good or bad this way I know what to expect. My body had changed drastically since surgery and I am trying to monitor the difference in water weight gain certain times of the month and real weight loss. Although I weigh myself every morning Thursday is my official weight calculation day. So whatever the scale says on Thursday morning that is what I count.
Please do what is comfortable for you and if you so you don't go crazy looking at the numbers. Good luck and feel free to add me as a friend if you like.
