Advice needed from Mass Effect fans

I'm think about getting this for my husband for Christmas: https://www.etsy.com/listing/106608816/mass-effect-inspired-nerf-proton?ref=sr_gallery_5&ga_search_query=mass+effect+nerf&ga_order=most_relevant&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_ship_to=US&ga_search_type=all&ga_facet=mass+effect+nerf
It's not a reproduction of a Mass Effect gun, just painted in that style. Do you think he'd still like it? He does like Nerf guns, not that we have any, and this may be too realistic to use in play with a 6-year-old anyway. So this may turn into a dust collector. Still, cool or not cool?

I did get it for him for Christmas. He seemed to like it, though I didn't get a huge response. But then that's my husband. I also bought him and my son Nerf rifles so they could shoot each other without damaging the customized one. That went over really well with both of them.
I got a deep fryer (which I like), so we didn't get too extravagant.
Now to figure out what to get him for his birthday...0
